Cricket Match Preview:
All the hype and hoopla surrounding this year’s Big Bash League has paved way for some real cricket. Whether it was a change around how toss will be done in this year’s league, or which player switched side at last moment, the focus has now shifted to the cricketing action in the middle of the pitch and so far, all the games have been pretty competitive and high quality.
Adelaide Strikers kicked off the Big Bash and their own campaign in style after defeating Brisbane Heat in the first game of cricket. It was not a straightforward easy win. It looked unlikely when Heat’s skipper, Chris Lynn, was going all guns blazing but soon, Strikers came back to dismiss him and could have bowled out Heat for under a total of 110 runs. But Heat came back through their last wicket partnership and set a competitive total of 147 runs for Strikers.
Strikers were helped by a responsible knock from Alex Carrey, who chased down the total without much discomfort. In their next game of cricket, they will be up against Melbourne Renegades, who are coming fresh from a tough win against the tournament favourites, Perth Scorchers. Renegades, on winning the toss, chose to send Scorchers to bat on a dicey pitch. But their bowlers, especially Usman Shinwari, bowled exceptionally well and bowled out Perth for a mere 103 runs.
However, knowing the strength in Scorchers bowling lineup, nobody expected it to be a walk in the park for Renegades. In fact, at one stage, Renegades were 17 for 4 and it looked as if it will be an embarrassing loss for them. However, that is where the cool head of experienced Mohammad Nabi helped them and his crucial knock of 35 off 27 deliveries under pressure helped Renegades get over the line.
It is expected to be another tight game at Adelaide between these two sides. Both sides showed their capability with their bowling, but batting looked vulnerable. It will now be up to each bowling lineup to expose that weakness and feast on it.
Cricket Match Information:
Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers will clash against each other in search of their second win in the second consecutive cricket game. Both teams won their respective first game of cricket against Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat respectively.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
After a tight win against one of the favourites of this cricket league, Perth Scorchers, the confidence of Renegades will be sky high. However, their batting needs some work. Our prediction is they will be retaining the same playing eleven as their last cricket game.
Here is our prediction of Melbourne Renegades’ playing XI:
- Cameron White
- SB Harper
- TP Ludeman
- TLW Cooper
- JD WIldermuth
- Dan Christian
- Mohammad Nabi
- W Sutherland
- CJ Boyce
- KW Richardson
- Usman Shinwari
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
The defending champions, Adelaide Strikers, won their first game of cricket handsomely. Our prediction is they will go into their second game of cricket with the same playing eleven as their last cricket game.
Here is our prediction of Adelaide Strikers’ playing XI:
- Alex Carey
- J Weatherhald
- Colin Ingram
- JW Wells
- JS Lehmann
- MG Neser

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Rashid Khan debuted in the Big Bash League during the last season. He impressed one and all with his adaptability and wicket taking abilities in different conditions. He made an immediate impact in the first cricket game of this season as well. Our prediction is of another good performance from him.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Adelaide Oval last hosted an international T20 cricket game back in 2017 when Australia took on Sri Lanka. Australia then successfully defended a total of 187 runs and our prediction is of another high-scoring total on this ground. Conditions are expected to be dry.
The defending champions, Adelaide Strikers, will begin this game of cricket as favourites. Their depth came to the fore in the first game of cricket against Brisbane Heat, whereas Renegades’ batting looked a little vulnerable. Hence, our prediction is of another Adelaide Strikers victory.
