Cricket Match Information:

Afghanistan vs West Indies second ODI cricket game of a three-match cricket series will be played at Lucknow. West Indies won the first game of cricket easily by seven wickets and are now one win away from the series win. Afghanistan would have been disappointed with their performance in their first game and would like to give a better account of themselves in the next cricket game. Our prediction expert reckons that Afghanistan will make a strong comeback in the next game.

Afghanistan

After the debacle of 50 over World Cup earlier this year, Afghanistan went with the option of Rashid Khan as the captain. They were led by Gulbadin Naib in the World Cup.

Afghanistan began the next cycle of 50 over format with a loss against West Indies. After a disappointing World Cup campaign, they are now looking to get some much-needed wins under their belt. They have appointed Rashid Khan as the skipper and under him, Afghanistan have already tasted some success in the longer format of the game. They won the only test match played against Bangladesh and made it to the final of the T20 tri-series played in Bangladesh.

Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game.

Here is our prediction of Afghanistan’s playing XI:

  • Rashid Khan
  • Gulbadin Naib
  • Mohammad Nabi
  • Rahmat Shah
  • Mujeeb ur Rahman
  • Ikram Alikhil
  • Hazratullah Zazai
  • Ashgar Afghan
  • Najibullah Zadran
  • Naveen-ul-Haq
  • Mohammad Javed Ahmadi

West Indies

West Indies, after their disappointing World Cup campaign and poor cricket series against India, decided to make a change at the leadership level. Jason Holder, their skipper for a long time, has now been replaced by Keiron Pollard.

West Indies began the series well against Afghanistan. They bowled well to restrict Afghanistan to a total of 194 runs and then chased it down with ease by seven wickets. Roston Chase had a phenomenal game as he first picked up two wickets and then scored 94 runs to take West Indies home.

Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game.

Here is our prediction of West Indies’ playing XI:

  • Keiron Pollard
  • Jason Holder
  • Shai Hope
  • Nicholas Pooran
  • Shimron Hetmyer
  • Roston Chase
  • Evin Lewis
  • Hayden Walsh Junior
  • Sheldon Cottrell
  • Alzarri Joseph
  • R Shepherd

Expert Prediction: AFG vs WI

The first ‘home’ game for Afghanistan did not quite begin well. They lost the first ODI against West Indies also in a one-sided manner. Not even the great Rashid Khan could do anything to prevent West Indies from chasing down the total set by Afghanistan.

A lot was expected of Afghanistan before this series began. They were playing in the conditions to their liking, whereas West Indies were undergoing a transition period. But Keiron Pollard led his side admirably in the first game of cricket and, despite some threatening partnerships, never allowed Afghanistan to get away.

Afghanistan’s best batsman, Rahmat Shah, and wicketkeeper, Ikram Alikhil, had strung a good partnership of 111 runs but then lost their way spectacularly to get bowled out for 194 runs. Then during the defence, both Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan went wicketless and that meant that Afghanistan could never make a comeback in the game.

Our prediction is of a strong comeback for Afghanistan as they are too good a side to stay down especially in these conditions. West Indies, on the other hand, would be looking to do more of the same that they did in the previous game. Every facet of their game was up to the mark and if they can play at the same potential, they will walk away with a series win

Toss prediction? – Lucknow gave a good cricketing wicket in the first game of cricket. It played well for both batsmen and bowlers. However, with dew playing a crucial part in the northern part of India, the teams would like to chase more than bat first
