Cricket Match Preview:
It was in 2015 World Cup that cricket world finally took notice of Bangladesh. They existed even before that but that is that – they existed. Sure, there were some noticeable moments like their victory over Australia, Pakistan and India but they were too sporadic to be taken seriously. In 2015, it was not that they looked unbeatable, they reached the quarter-final and took on India in that game. They did not win that game, but they kept India honest, so honest that if not for that infamous no-ball, they genuinely believed that they could have beaten India.
Immediately after the World Cup, India went to Bangladesh to play the ODI cricket series and lost the series easily. It was not just India; it was Pakistan and then South Africa as well who tasted the medicine of defeat from the most unlikely source. Sure, those were the home series for Bangladesh but never before they had challenged these big teams with consistency and relentlessness.
Fast forward to 2019 and with almost the same set of players and captain, they are once again making the world notice. Their oppositions now know that you cannot afford to relax against them, it is not an easy game against them anymore. Ask South Africa, who were out batted, out fielded and out bowled in this tournament. Ask West Indies, who were given their own treatment during the run chase of over 300 runs.
But they still do not have anything to show for it, yet, they are currently at the sixth position and with two wins in their kitty and a washed-out game, they need to win the rest of their games to progress to the next round. The first of those remaining games is against Afghanistan, a team who has a fantastic journey of their own. But they are facing a turbulence of their own right now. Some self-inflicted, some not so much. The removal of a regular captain, bad selections and, above all, poor performances from leading men.
It is Afghanistan’s chance as well to break the narrative. A narrative that has already ruled them out with disdain. They are not here to make up the numbers and they need to prove it now. Can they pull one out of the bag to surprise Bangladesh? If they do, that will make one hell of a story on its own.

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Tamim Iqbal has been the prime performer for Bangladesh for a decade now. It was in 2007 World Cup that he emerged from nowhere and showed his class. It might just be his last cricket World Cup hence, he would like to make it memorable. Our prediction is of a good knock from him.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last completed International cricket ODI cricket played here was between India and South Africa recently. It was a low-scoring game, which India won by six wickets. Our prediction is of the score of around 300 in this cricket game. Conditions are expected to be dry.
Bangladesh will begin this game of cricket as favourites. Although they have a mixed record against Afghanistan in the last few cricket games, those were against a side who had confidence. However, due to current form, we are going with Bangladesh as our winner.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Tamim Iqbal (BAN) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Rashid Khan (AFG) – 2 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
Afghanistan – 4.55
Bangladesh – 1.19
