Brisbane Heat, buoyed by the inclusion of legend AB de Villiers, hammered Adelaide Strikers in their last cricket game. Skipper Chris Lynn would have been thrilled with that performance as well as the form shown by AB. Lynn was instrumental in bringing de Villiers to the Big Bash League.
Heat gave a complete performance in their home ground. Their bowlers, led by James Pattinson, were miserly and bowled out Strikers for just 110 runs in that game. Considering that the next match is against the same opponent, they would be feeling very confident.
Our prediction is they will go with the same eleven that played in Brisbane unless there is an injury.
Here is our prediction of Brisbane Heat’s playing XI:
- Chris Lynn
- Max Bryant
- Ben Cutting
- James Pattinson
- JK Lalor
- MJ Swepson
- AB de Villiers
- Matt Renshaw
- JA Burns
- JJ Peirson
- Mujeeb ur Rahman
Adelaide Strikers were being led by Alex Carey in the earlier part of the tournament. With his inclusion in the ODI squad that is currently taking on India, Travis Head has been handed over the responsibility of leading the side.
It has been a mixed bag of a season for Strikers. They have looked sumptuous in some games while they have not been so good in others. Their last game fell into the latter category. They will have to get up quickly and brush off the dirt of last game as they are going to face the same opponent in their next game.
Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game.

- MG Neser
- Rashid Khan
- HNA Conway
- Phil Salt
- Jake Weatherald
- JW Wells
- MW Short
- Peter Siddle
- HJ Nielsen
- LN O’Connor

Expert Prediction: AS vs BH
Adelaide Strikers will be taking on Brisbane Heat once again in this season of Big Bash League. They lost the game quite easily against them a couple of days ago and will have to forget that quickly. Heat, on the other hand, had many reasons to feel happy about themselves. Their superstar player, AB de Villiers, eased into the tournament with a breezy 40 runs innings, whereas James Pattinson looked as menacing as ever.
Due to the change in format this year, all of the top five teams will have the chance to qualify for the playoffs. As per the new format, the teams finishing in the top two will be rewarded for their consistency, unlike in previous seasons.
While the winner of the ‘qualifier’ played between the top two teams will reach the final straightaway, the loser will play the ‘challenger’ against the winner of the ‘knockout’, which is going to be played between the side that finished third and winner of the ‘eliminator’.
The Eliminator is a newly introduced knockout feature, which will be played between the teams finishing at number fourth and fifth on the points table. Hence, out of the eight teams, five teams will have a chance to play the final and win the tournament.
In the last five encounters between the two sides, Strikers have managed to win two cricket games, whereas Heat have emerged winner on other three occasions.
With Heat’s stars seem to be aligning perfectly, the task looks tough for Strikers in their next game. Hence, our prediction is of a victory for Brisbane Heat yet again.
Toss prediction? – The team winning the toss will definitely look to bowl first as the T20 game is hugely a chase-friendly format. Hence, irrespective of the conditions, our prediction is that the team winning the toss would like to bowl first.
