Australia are being led by Tim Paine in this cricket series. He recently led them to a very convincing victory over Pakistan.
Australia have begun to get to the standards that they had set themselves over the years. They were extremely dominant against Pakistan and in the first test match against New Zealand. They did not even allow the oppositions to be in the game for a session. Right now, they are looking extremely difficult to beat.
Our prediction is of the inclusion of James Pattinson in the playing eleven in place of injured Josh Hazlewood.
Here is our prediction of Australia’s playing XI:
- David Warner
- Joe Burns
- Steve Smith
- Marnus Labuschange
- Travis Head
- Matthew Wade
- Tim Paine
- Pat Cummins
- James Pattinson
- Nathan Lyon
- Mitch Starc
New Zealand are being led by Kane Williamson in this cricket series. Williamson led New Zealand to victory in the series against England.
New Zealand were completely outplayed in the first game of cricket against Australia. They had come to these shores with great expectations but so far, they have not managed to live up to those. It has been years since New Zealand were given the test match at Melbourne, hence it is going to be another opportunity for them to impress their neighbours.
Our prediction is of the inclusion of Trent Boult in the playing eleven as he has recovered from his injury. Tom Blundell is expected to be brought in as well in place of Jeet Raval.
Here is our prediction of New Zealand’s playing XI:
- Kane Williamson
- Tim Southee
- Neil Wagner
- Tom Latham
- Tom Blundell
- Henry Nicholls
- BJ Watling
- Ross Taylor
- Colin de Grandhomme
- Mitch Santner
- Trent Boult
Expert Prediction: AUS vs NZ
Australia and New Zealand are going to clash against each other in the second test match of the three-match test series. Until the last test match, it had been almost four years since these two teams had played a test match against each other.
The last time these two teams locked horns at Melbourne was in 1987. Australia was struggling then in the long format of the game and they barely managed to avoid the loss against New Zealand. Quite inexplicably since then, New Zealand were never given another game at MCG until this time.
New Zealand last played at MCG in the 2015 cricket World Cup final where the atmosphere and local support for Australia overwhelmed them. It is going to be similar this time around with lots of people expected to turn up for Boxing Day. It is yet another chance for New Zealand to show their improvement and justify their current ranking.
Australia, on the other hand, are looking ominous at the moment. The way they have brushed aside their opponents this summer gives the reminder of their golden period under Steve Waugh or Ricky Ponting. Their bowlers are proving too difficult for any batsman to face and their batsmen are scoring runs for fun at this stage.
Our prediction is of another win for Australia in this game of cricket. They are extremely formidable at home and New Zealand looked short of ideas with the bat in the last cricket game. With the ball, New Zealand were disciplined and efficient but not penetrative enough. They will need to do a lot well in all sphere of the game to compete come Boxing Day.
