Australia are back in whites again. After drawing the cricket series against England in the Ashes, they will now be hosting Pakistan in their backyard. They will be led by Tim Paine in this series as well.

Australia managed to retain the Ashes after levelling the series against England. However, after taking the lead of 2-1 in the series, they would have been disappointed to let the series slip. It is all in the past now and they now would like to get some much-needed points and move up the ladder in the ICC World Test Championship points table.

Australia have made some changes to their squad from the Ashes series. They have brought in Cameron Bancroft in place of Marcus Harris, who opened the batting for Australia in England. Our prediction is of the inclusion of Cameron Bancroft straight away. Since James Pattinson will not be part of this test match, Mitch Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins would likely form the pace trio.

Here is our prediction of Australia’s playing XI:

  • David Warner
  • Joe Burns
  • Steve Smith
  • Marnus Labuschange
  • Travis Head
  • Matthew Wade
  • Tim Paine
  • Pat Cummins
  • Josh Hazlewood
  • Nathan Lyon
  • Mitch Starc

Pakistan are touring Australia for two test matches. They are going to play their first test match under ICC World Test Championship.

A lot has changed for Pakistan since they last played a test match. Sarfraz Ahmed was the captain in all formats and Mickey Arthur was the coach. Now, Sarfraz has been replaced by Azhar Ali as the skipper and Misbah ul Haq had become the coach of the team.

After a fantastic show in their tour matches, Pakistan would be very confident and would be looking to win their first-ever test series in Australia. Our prediction is of the inclusion of Shaheen Afridi, Imran Khan and Mohammad Abbas as three fast bowlers.

Here is our prediction of Pakistan’s playing XI:

  • Babar Azam
  • Shan Masood
  • Azhar Ali
  • Imam-ul-Haq
  • Asad Shafiq
  • Mohammad Rizwan
  • Haris Sohail
  • Yasir Shah
  • Shaheen Afridi
  • Imran Khan
  • Mohammad Abbas

Expert Prediction: AUS vs PAK

Pakistan are back for yet another tour down under. They are yet to win a cricket series in this part of the world and would like to do it on this occasion with a talented side. They have a new leader in Azhar Ali and a new coach in Misbah ul Haq, who has experience in leading Pakistan recently in Australia.

Meanwhile, Australia would like to have some good time in home conditions after a gruelling Ashes series. There, it was mostly Steve Smith with the bat and bowlers who kept Australia in the game. However, back home, the team would be backing David Warner to do much better than he has recently.

Both sides have some young men on the verge of making it to their team, Pakistan more so, but it should be an exciting series between the two sides. Our prediction guru reckons that it is going to be difficult for Pakistan to contend with Australian challenge, especially in the first game. Over the years, Gabba has been the fortress for Australia hence, if any team can avoid losing them here, they will stand a chance.

Toss prediction? – The pitch in Gabba always has help for bowlers early on but Australian teams of the past have preferred to bat first over here. Same suggestion will be there for Pakistan as well as it will be tough to get back in the game if Australia post a big total batting first. Hence, our prediction is the team winning the toss would like to bat first.
