Cricket Match Preview:

Australia’s plan to extend their stay at Manchester was spoiled by the spirited show from South Africa. Faf du Plessis’ men played their best cricket in their final group game and defeated Australia in a close game by ten runs. This loss meant that Australia had to move to Birmingham, where they were being awaited by their archrival England. It will be a clash of the Titans between the two oldest teams of the game.

Apart from the loss in their final group game of cricket, Australia were also hit hard by injuries as we saw their number three batsman, Usman Khawaja, ruled out of the tournament and Marcus Stoinis is once again under the injury cloud. This has happened after Shaun Marsh was already ruled out of the tournament by a lethal delivery from Pat Cummins in the net practice.

England have themselves recovered from injuries as their opener, Jason Roy, has not only returned to the side but has also buoyed the side with his typical hard-hitting knocks in the last couple of games. England were in a precarious situation before the cricket game against India, the loss in which could have ruled them out and Pakistan could have sneaked in. But England got some luck and form back and finished the group stage at number three spot on the points table.

Despite the injuries, Australia have been very good in this tournament. They found themselves in tough situations in many games but found new heroes every time. The common factors behind their successes have been the form of their openers, David Warner and Aaron Finch, both of whom have amassed over 600 and 500 runs respectively. Their fast bowler, Mitch Starc, has been once again among wickets and is miles ahead of any competition with 28 wickets so far.

England would have been hurt by their loss against Australia earlier in the competition. They now have a chance to create history by reaching the final of the cricket World Cup for the first time since 1992. Australia’s record in the semi-final can be challenged by this English side and if luck once again goes their way, it would be hard to stop them.

Cricket Match Information:

Australia and England will clash with each other in the second semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Australia finished the group stage at second spot, whereas England finished on the third spot on the points table. The winner of this cricket game will meet the winner of the first semi-final game to be played between India and New Zealand on 9th July.

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

Australia are being led by Aaron Finch in the World Cup. They became the first team to qualify for the semi-final. Our prediction is of the inclusion of Peter Handscomb in the playing eleven in place of injured Usman Khawaja.

Here is our prediction of Australia’s playing XI:

  • Aaron Finch
  • David Warner
  • Steve Smith
  • Alex Carrey
  • Glenn Maxwell
  • Shaun Marsh
  • Nathan Lyon
  • Peter Handscomb
  • Mitch Starc
  • Jason Behrendorff
  • Pat Cummins

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

England are being led by Eoin Morgan in the World Cup. They are coming into this cricket game after two back-to-back convincing wins. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven as their last cricket game.

Here is our prediction of England’s playing XI:

  • Jason Roy
  • Jonny Bairstow
  • Joe Root
  • Eoin Morgan
  • Ben Stokes
  • Jos Butler
  • Chris Woakes
  • Liam Plunkett
  • Jofra Archer
  • Mark Wood
  • Adil Rashid

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

Jason Roy is going to be crucial once again for England. Ever since his comeback, they have looked like a different side and have started winning again. However, his battle against Australian speedster, Mitch Starc, is going to be a deciding factor hence, our prediction is whoever wins this contest, their team will win.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

The last international ODI cricket game played here was between India and Bangladesh recently. It was a high-scoring cricket game, where India scored 314 runs and then beat Bangladesh by 28 runs. Our prediction is of the score of around 325 in this game of cricket. Conditions are expected to be cool with chances of rain.

Our Prediction:

England will begin this game of cricket as favourites. They have been in very good form in the last couple of cricket games, whereas Australia are suffering from injury woes and loss in their last game. Hence, our prediction is of an England win.
