Cricket Match Preview:
India were riding high on confidence after their historical test cricket series win against Australia. Australia chose to go with a new look squad by resting their regular fast bowlers like Pat Cummins, Mitch Starc and Josh Hazlewood. As a result, very few would have expected what transpired at Sydney Cricket Ground.
Australia on winning the toss chose to bat first and with the help of three half centuries of varied nature, they posted about a par score of 288 runs. After losing skipper Aaron Finch and Alex Carrey early, two of their most experienced batsmen, Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh, got together, looked to have a partnership and got Australia back on track.
But the killer blow was provided by under pressure Peter Handscomb, who scored a magnificent 73 off just 61 deliveries. That helped Australia post a total of 288 runs rather than having to settle down for a total of 270 runs. For any cricket side, to chase a total of more than 280 runs even now requires that they get off to a good start. However, India were off to a worse possible start.
Jason Behrendorff and Jhye Richardson began the bowling for Australia. Behrendorff dismissed Shikhar Dhawan in the very first over and Jhye Richardon dismissed Virat Kohli and Ambati Rayudu in the same over to leave India gasping for breath at 4 for 3 after 4 overs. Just like that, India’s backbone was broken.
Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni strung a partnership together, but the going was very slow and left India with a lot to do. Despite that, Rohit Sharma’s heroics fell short by a big margin of 34 runs. Rohit Sharma scored 133 runs off 129 deliveries, but it went to vain. The noise is getting louder regarding Dhoni’s role in this team and it feels like time is running out for the legend of Indian cricket.
Australia, meanwhile, will be looking at their first series win since the fiasco of sandpaper last year. If they can win one more game of cricket, they will have a series win against one of the favourites of World Cup.
Cricket Match Information:
New look Australia will be looking to create a massive upset and win the series against India when these two sides meet at Adelaide. Australia currently lead the cricket series by 1-0 by beating India in the first ODI game of cricket by a big margin of 34 runs.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
India might be looking at including the leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the lineup as India struggled for wickets in the first game of cricket. He might be replacing Ravindra Jadeja in the cricket team. Our prediction is of inclusion of either Yuzvendra Chahal or Kedar Jadhav in place of Ravindra Jadeja.
Here is our prediction of India’s playing XI:
- Rohit Sharma
- Shikhar Dhawan
- Virat Kohli
- Ambati Rayudu
- MS Dhoni
- Kedar Jadhav
- Dinesh Karthik
- Kuldeep Yadav
- Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
- Khaleel Ahmed
- Mohammad Shami
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
With the win in their first game of cricket, Australia will be looking to go into the second cricket game with the same playing eleven. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven as their last cricket game.
Here is our prediction of Australia’s playing XI:
- Aaron Finch
- Alex Carrey
- Usman Khwaja
- Shaun Marsh
- Glenn Maxwell
- Marcus Stoinis
- Peter Handscomb
- Nathan Lyon

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Marcus Stoinis had a good first game of cricket. His late hitting and wickets in the middle overs are of utmost importance to Australia. Our prediction is of a good performance yet again from him.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last international cricket ODI game played on this venue was between Australia and South Africa. It was a low scoring encounter with Australia scoring 231 runs and South Africa falling short by mere 7 runs. Our prediction is of score of around 270 by team batting first. Conditions are expected to be dry.
Australia will begin this game of cricket as favourites. Their quick bowlers surprised India’s batting lineup and the batting group has some work to do. Our prediction is of Australia’s victory in this cricket game.
