Cricket Match Preview:
Finally, we got to see the much-needed Australian victory, which had become a bit like water in the desert. No side had lost as many games of cricket as Australia since the 2015 cricket World Cup. Granted the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner would have derailed any side in the world, but the failure of even their first-choice bowlers and some of the experienced batsmen had raised some eyebrows.
In the second cricket ODI however, Australia despite not being smart with the bat once again were able to defend a total of 231 runs. Australia once again failed to bat through the 50 overs and got all out in just 48.3 overs. This happened once again due to the impatience shown by the middle order of Australia, who kept on getting out for 40s.
South Africa bowled well once again as they kept picking up wickets in regular intervals. This time, the chief destructor was Dwaine Pretorius, who picked up 3 wickets for just 32 runs in 10 overs. Kagiso Rabada was his usual fiery self as well as he picked up 4 wickets for 54 runs. However, they themselves are going through batting problems in the absence of Hashim Amla and recently retired AB de Villiers.
In the first ODI, they lost 2-3 wickets unnecessarily when they could have won the game of cricket by 8 wickets. Here in the second ODI, they were pretty well placed at 142 for 4 after 29.2 overs. But soon after the wicket of Faf du Plessis, South Africa’s long tail was exposed and this time Australia bowlers went for the kill and did not allow any partnership to flourish.
In the final cricket, ODI Australia would like to bat much better because now they know about the fragilities of South African batting as well. South Africa, on the other hand, would like to avoid the complacency and not waste this golden opportunity of winning the series in Australia against Australia.
Cricket Match Information:
Australia, fresh from a victory, would look to win the series against South Africa as they take on each other at Hobart in the third cricket ODI of the three-match ODI series. Australia came back in the second ODI by winning the game of cricket by a margin of 7 runs.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
South Africa will not be happy with their batting performance in the second cricket ODI. The likes of Henrich Klassen and Aiden Markram have not managed to come to the party and as a result, South Africa have struggled for partnerships. Our prediction is of the same eleven as the second ODI.
Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:
- Quinton De Kock
- RR Hendricks
- Henrich Klassen
- Faf du Plessis
- Aiden Markram
- David Miller
- D Pretorius
- Dale Steyn
- Kagiso Rabada
- Imran Tahir
- Lungi Ngidi
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Australia managed to sneak one win after the string of losses. It is highly likely that they will go with the winning combination in the third and final cricket ODI as well. Our prediction is of the same eleven as the second ODI.
Here is our prediction of Australia’s playing XI:
- Aaron Finch
- Chris Lynn
- D’Arcy Short
- Glenn Maxwell
- TM Head
- Marcus Stoinis
- AT Carey
- Adam Zampa
- Mitch Starc
- Pat Cummins
- Josh Hazlewood
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Faf du Plessis has had a quiet series so far and he would like to change that in the third ODI. He knows that in the absence of Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers, the pressure is on him to deliver more than ever. Hence, our prediction is of a fine knock from him in the decider.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Hobart pitch offers something to bowlers every time. The last cricket ODI played here was in 2015 when Australia took on Scotland in the cricket World Cup 2015. On that occasion, Scotland were bowled out for 130 runs and the likes of Starc and Cummins were among wickets in that game. Conditions are expected to be dry.
Despite the win in the second cricket ODI, South Africa will begin the decider as a favourite rather than Australia. However, if they are not careful, Australia may cause an upset.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Faf du Plessis (SA) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Kagiso Rabada (SA) – 2 or more wickets
