Cricket Match Preview:

Another International ODI cricket game and another loss – that has been the story of the Australian team in recent times. It is hard to remember the last time an Australian team went through such a prolonged series of winless games. South Africa could not have hoped for a better time to tour their prime rival.

Australia-South Africa games used to be full of intensity and cracking rivalry, but this series is in danger of having neither as Australians are slipping from one loss to another. No top sides have lost as many cricket games as they have since the 2015 cricket World Cup. To think that Australia are the defending champion of the World Cup is a scary thought. They could not be far away from the preparation or a settled side required for the World Cup at the moment.

The struggle of Australia was on show even in the first cricket ODI against the South Africans. They were bowled out for a paltry total of 152 runs. No batsmen could stand up against the quality pace attack of South Africa comprising of the trio of Dale Steyn, Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada. What would please South Africa most is the performance of Steyn, who rolled back the years and rocked the Australian top order.

For Australia, the more disappointing part would be the fact that on the pitch where South African bowlers managed to extract so much, their fast bowlers failed to do any damage. Their fast bowling line up is still intact as all the first-choice bowlers are playing and hence, there is simply no excuse for them to underperform. Skipper Aaron Finch has the toughest job in the world cricket right now to get the best out of the underconfident players.

Cricket Match Information:

South Africa will look to seal the series when it will take on Australia in the second ODI of the three-match cricket ODI series. The second ODI will be played at Adelaide Oval. South Africa won the first ODI of the cricket series handsomely by 6 wickets.

South Africa

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

South Africa will look to give another chance to the winning combination barring any injury. They would like RR Hendricks and Aiden Markram to do more in the absence of the player of Hashim Amla’s calibre.

Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:

  • Quinton De Kock
  • RR Hendricks
  • Henrich Klassen
  • Faf du Plessis
  • Aiden Markram
  • David Miller
  • Andile Phehlukwayo
  • Dale Steyn
  • Kagiso Rabada
  • Imran Tahir
  • Lungi Ngidi

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

Australia do not know what to do anymore except back the players that have been picked for this cricket series. They will have to give confidence to this set of players as that is the best lot available for them. They would desperately want the likes of Chris Lynn to do well as they struggle to keep up in the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner. Our prediction is we might get to see Adam Zampa in place of one of the four quicks.

Here is our prediction of Australia’s playing XI:

  • Aaron Finch
  • Chris Lynn
  • D’Arcy Short
  • Glenn Maxwell
  • TM Head
  • Marcus Stoinis
  • AT Carey
  • Adam Zampa
  • Mitch Starc
  • Pat Cummins
  • Josh Hazlewood

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

Aaron Finch has to score runs. It is as simple as that. In the absence of two premier batsmen, they need one of their experienced players to score big in almost every big cricket game. Our prediction is we might get to see a brilliant knock from Finch in the second cricket ODI.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

Generally, the Adelaide Oval pitch is beautiful to bat on but in the last cricket ODI played here between England and Australia earlier this year, England were bowled out for 196 runs only and even then, they managed to make the match out of it. Our prediction is of at least 250 runs being scored in this cricket game. Conditions are expected to be dry.

Our Prediction:

South Africa are the favourites for this cricket game by a country mile. They look a far better side at the moment than struggling Australia.

Top Batsman (Prediction):

Aaron Finch (AUS) – 50+ runs

Top Bowler (Prediction):

Kagiso Rabada (SA) – 2 or more wickets

Most Sixes (Prediction):

Aaron Finch (AUS)
