Cricket Match Preview:

An incident that shook Australia and still has its implications on the entire system of Australian cricket refuses to die down. The ball-tampering incident that led to the banning of Australian skipper Steve Smith, opener David Warner and young Cameron Bancroft has further led to the resignation of Australian placeholders. Amidst the chaos, South Africa, the country where the incident took place, is touring Australia for a short tour. The first cricket ODI between the two sides will be played in Perth.

Australia had a terrible tour of UAE, where they failed to win a single cricket game and the level of cricket seems to be going down alarmingly. It is not easy for any team to replace the permanent skipper and an experienced opener and that is where Australia seem to be struggling as well. They are trying various combinations and new players so that they can somehow fill those shoes but have failed to do so.

South Africa, on the other hand, are trying to get into the groove for the World Cup. They had a good series against Zimbabwe at home, where they won every cricket game and got a good workout both with the bat and the ball. They also had a successful ODI cricket series in Sri Lanka, where they won the series handsomely. They will be targeting the new look Australian team and have a wonderful opportunity of winning the series in Australia.

Australia have had a lot of talk about playing the game with honesty and integrity and it remains to be seen if they can emulate the talks into the game. Skipper Aaron Finch has a tough task on his hand as the team morale must be low due to consistent failures and off-field talks. Faf du Plessis and South Africa would look at this as a golden opportunity to get things rolling before the World Cup.

Cricket Match Information:

South Africa and Australia will take on each other in a short series, where they will play each other in a three-match ODI series and a single T20 international cricket game. The tour will begin with an ODI cricket game, which will be played in Perth. This will be the first time since the infamous ball-tampering fiasco, which took place earlier this year in South Africa, that these two teams will meet.

South Africa

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

South Africa will look at their pace bowling reserves to do the damage against Australia. They have the services of the likes of Dale Steyn, Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada and in all likelihood, all of them will play the first game. Hence, our prediction is of three pacers and a lone spinner in Imran Tahir in South African playing eleven.

Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:

  • Quinton De Kock
  • Henrich Klassen
  • Faf du Plessis
  • Aiden Markram
  • David Miller
  • Andile Phehlukwayo
  • Chris Moris
  • Dale Steyn
  • Kagiso Rabada
  • Imran Tahir
  • Lungi Ngidi

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

Australia are going to be led by Aaron Finch in this series. Australia will have the services of both Mitch Starc and Pat Cummins in this series and it will be fascinating to see their duel against the South African counterparts. Our prediction is of three pacers and a spinner in Adam Zampa.

Here is our prediction of Australia’s playing XI:

  • Aaron Finch
  • Chris Lynn
  • SE Marsh
  • Glenn Maxwell
  • TM Head
  • Marcus Stoinis
  • AT Carey
  • Adam Zampa
  • Mitch Starc
  • Pat Cummins
  • Nathan Coulter-Nile

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

Aiden Markram had a good series against India at home earlier this year, followed by a mediocre series in Sri Lanka. If he wants to be known as the next big thing in South African cricket, he will have to perform in Australia. Our prediction is of a fine knock from him in the first game.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

It will only be the second ODI to be played at this venue. In the previous game played here, England defended a total of 259 against Australia. With two good bowling attacks in show, you would suspect that the score of 280-300 should be a match-winning one. Conditions are expected to be dry.

Our Prediction:

Cricket is in turmoil in Australia and as a result, South Africa will begin the game as firm favourites. They have a wonderful opportunity to win the series in Australia and prepare for the World Cup in the process.

Top Batsman (Prediction):

Aiden Markram (SA) – 50+ runs

Top Bowler (Prediction):

Kagiso Rabada (SA) – 2 or more wickets

Most Sixes (Prediction):

David Miller (SA)
