Cricket Match Preview:

Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa in London. In any scenario, facing South Africa is an uphill task but taking them in two days’ time after their big loss against England, is probably the best for Bangladesh. Bangladesh know that South Africa are vulnerable and if they play to their potential, they can cause some more damage.

Although Bangladesh are coming into this tournament in an almost understated manner, they now command more respect among the opponents and are expected to play a lot better in this World Cup. The reason behind that has been their success since the last World Cup, where they reached the quarter-final for the first time. Post that success, they began winning cricket games consistently especially at home. In fact, they beat both India and South Africa in the cricket series following the 2015 World Cup.

South Africa took on England in the opening game of this edition of World Cup. They began well with the ball, getting Jonny Bairstow for a duck with an Imran Tahir masterstroke. Post that, they kept on taking wickets in regular interval and did not allow England’s batting lineup, habituated of scoring in excess of 350, to score more than 311 runs. They would have gladly taken that score at lunchtime and would have fancied their chances of getting past that.

But their batting floundered on a big occasion. After an unfortunate injury to Hashim Amla at the start of their innings, Aiden Markram and Faf du Plessis got dismissed quickly. South Africa never quite recovered from these setbacks and lost the game of cricket by 104 runs. In their next clash against Bangladesh, they can make a couple of changes. David Miller in the middle order will be one of them and bringing in Chris Morris instead of Dwayne Pretorius will give them further batting depth.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, would have learnt from their warm-up loss to India. Tamim Iqbal will definitely be included in the lineup and will give much-needed experience to the batting order. It remains to be seen if Shakib Al Hasan has recovered from his injury in the warm-ups. It is a golden opportunity for Bangladesh to get off to a winning start against a vulnerable South African unit.

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

South Africa had a disappointing loss in the opening cricket game of the World Cup against England. Dale Steyn is expected to be out for a couple of games at least due to injury. Our prediction is of the inclusion of David Miller and Chris Morris in the playing eleven.

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

Faf du Plessis has been in great form coming into this tournament. He will be hurt following the loss against England and would be looking to make amends for it from his own performance. Our prediction is of a good knock from him.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

The opening cricket game of the World Cup played here was between England and South Africa. England scored 311 runs after batting first but it was not a typical flat pitch, which have seen over the years in England. Our prediction is of another score of around 300 runs. Conditions are expected to be hot and dry.

Our Prediction:

Despite the loss in the first cricket game, South Africa will begin this game as favourites. Their overall dominance over Bangladesh is the reason behind it. Our prediction is of South African victory in this game of cricket.
