Cricket Match Preview:
It took an inning of a lifetime from Shai Hope to help West Indies level a series against Bangladesh. He scored more than half the score of West Indies and his marathon knock of 146 not out helped West Indies get over the line after a string of losses beginning from India’s ODI series. Bangladesh will have to play well now to win the series of cricket as West Indies will be confident now.
Bangladesh was sent in to bat first by West Indies and this was because West Indies failed to defend their total in the first ODI cricket game. Bangladesh’s innings were held well by Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim, both of whom scored half-centuries. Their knock was followed by Shakib Al Hassan’s half-century but strangely, Bangladesh could score only 255 because of lack of score by other players.
Bangladesh would have still hoped to win the game of cricket as they have the spinners and pacers required to make an impact on these pitches. Unlike Bangladesh’s innings, there were no significant contributions from their middle order players, but they kept on chipping at the target due to Shai Hope’s coolness. At one stage, West Indies were 185 for 6 with no batsman to follow. But with Shai Hope’s calmness and increase in tempo in the innings, West Indies got to their target with two balls remaining.
Bangladesh have got the wake-up call now, but they know that West Indies’ batsmen are still struggling except, of course, Hope. They know that if they can get Hope cheaply, it will present a daunting task to out-of-form middle order of West Indies. West Indies will also have to reassess the role of Shimron Hetmyer, who perhaps is batting too low in the batting order. It is going to be an exciting cricket game, keeping in mind the World Cup next year as the side winning the series will be more confident about their preparation.
Cricket Match Information:
An interesting decider is in store as Bangladesh and West Indies will take on each other at Sylhet International cricket stadium. Series is level right now with Bangladesh winning the first cricket game, while West Indies came back strongly to win the second game of cricket. It will be a golden opportunity for West Indies to win a series in Asia.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
West Indies lost the first ODI game of cricket and came back strongly to win the second game of cricket. Our prediction is they will retain the same playing eleven in their next cricket game.
Here is our prediction of West Indies’ playing XI:
- Rovman Powell
- C Hemraj
- Shai Hope
- Shimron Hetmyer
- Marlon Samuels
- Roston Chase
- KMA Paul
- Devendra Bishoo
- Kemar Roach
- O Thomas
- DM Bravo
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Bangladesh will look to correct the mistakes they made in the second game of cricket. Their batsmen scored three half-centuries, but no one went ahead and scored a big one. Their fielders dropped catches too and that allowed West Indies to get away with a win. Our prediction is they will continue with the same playing eleven.
Here is our prediction of Bangladesh’s playing XI:
- Tamim Iqbal
- Liton Das
- Imrul Kayes
- Soumya Sarkar
- Mushfiqur Rahim
- Shakib Al Hasan
- Mehidy Hasan Miraz
- Mustafizur Rahman
- Rubel Hossain
- Mashrafe Mortaza
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Shimron Hetmyer has had a quiet cricket series so far. He is perhaps batting two positions too low in this batting lineup. Our prediction is if given the opportunity at high up in the order, he will come good and score a big one for West Indies.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
It is going to be the first ODI cricket game ever on this ground. The curators would like to make a good impression and we can expect a pitch with scores of over 250 runs. Conditions are expected to be dry.
Bangladesh will begin the decider as favourites without a doubt. Being a host-nation, they know the conditions better than most. West Indies will have to play another game to their potential if they have to win the decider. However, our prediction is of Bangladesh’s victory.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Shimron Hetmyer (WI) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Mustafizur Rahman (Ban) – 2 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):

Bangladesh – 1.44
West Indies – 2.45
