Cricket Match Preview:
Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh continues as we move to Chittagong for the second cricket ODI. Bangladesh have already taken an important lead of 1-0 over Zimbabwe, which means if they win the second ODI as well it will mean another cricket series victory at home for them. Zimbabwe, however, would like to change that and stay in the contention of the series win by winning the second ODI.
In the end, it seemed like a familiar tale for Zimbabwe as they saw Bangladesh wrap up a 28 runs victory over them. They were yet again with a chance to close out the game when they had Bangladesh for 139 for 6 and all the key batsmen and all-rounders of Bangladesh had been dismissed. But just like in South Africa where they had such numerous opportunities, they failed to close out the innings and let Bangladesh score a huge 271 runs on a difficult pitch.
It was not all bad for Zimbabwe on the field though. In fact, they had done a remarkable job, thanks to KM Jarvis who picked up 3 quick wickets for just 2 runs in the middle overs and those wickets included the big names like Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. But Imrul Kayes, who had been sent to open in place of Tamim Iqbal, played a memorable knock of 144 runs and took the Bangladesh total beyond the reach of Zimbabwe.
If Zimbabwe have to stay competitive in the cricket series, they will have to learn how to dismiss the opposition quickly once they are on top. It has led to their failures time and again. But bowling is not their biggest issue at the moment. It is the batting that has repeatedly let them down and it is undoing all the good work their bowlers have been doing. Senior men like Hamilton Masakadza, Brendon Taylor and recently returned Sikandar Raza will have to be among runs and big runs if Zimbabwe have to avoid another cricket series loss.
Cricket Match Information:
Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will take on each other in the second ODI at Chittagong. Bangladesh won the first cricket ODI at Mirpur, Dhaka by 28 runs and took the lead of 1-0 in a three-match ODI series. The winner of the second ODI will win the series.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Bangladesh gave Fazle Mahmud a chance to debut in the first game of cricket. He failed to score a run, but Bangladesh are likely to stick with him. Our prediction is the same eleven for Bangladesh barring an injury.
Here is our prediction of Bangladesh’s playing XI:
- Liton Das
- Mehidy Hasan Miraz
- Imrul Kayes
- Mushfiqur Rahim
- Mohammad Mithun
- Fazle Mahmud
- Mashrafe Mortaza
- Nazmul Islam
- Mustafizur Rahman
- Mohammad Saifuddin
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Zimbabwe bowled decently enough in the first cricket game, but their batting let them down once again. Considering the fact that they were right in the game for the majority of the portions, our prediction is that they will play the same eleven as the first game of cricket.
Here is our prediction of Zimbabwe playing XI:
- Hamilton Masakadza
- C Zhuwao
- CR Ervine
- Brendon Taylor
- SC Williams
- PJ Moor
- Elton Chigumbura
- DT Tiripano
- Brendon Mavuta
- KM Jarvis
- TL Chatara
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Brendon Taylor has had a good record against Bangladesh. He has also played some of the most memorable knocks against them. His recent lean run of form notwithstanding our prediction is of a good knock from the best batsman of Zimbabwe.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
In the last cricket game played here between Bangladesh and England, the score of 277 proved to be insufficient for Bangladesh. The spinners were in the game right throughout the innings but due to the dew in the second half of the game of cricket, they became ineffective. Our prediction is of a similar score in this game with a slight advantage with the side chasing. Conditions are expected to be dry and cooler in the evening.
Bangladesh will yet again begin the game as favourites. They are strong in their home conditions and have the ability to turn around a difficult situation in their favour. Hence, our prediction is of another win for the home side in a close encounter.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh) – 2 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh)
Bangladesh – 1.24
Zimbabwe – 4.00
