Cricket Match Preview:
Not too long ago, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh games used to be a close battle. In fact, in the first few years of this rivalry, Zimbabwe used to dominate the games of cricket while Bangladesh struggled. But those were the foundation years of Bangladesh cricket and they are now a formidable side in world cricket.
In Bangladesh, Bangladesh are even a tougher side to compete with as their spinners stay in the game for a longer amount of time and their batsmen get to play more freely. The crowd support is another factor to contend with in these parts of the world. Bangladesh have now joined India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the fourth Asian heavyweight of world cricket.
Zimbabwe have had troubling times in the last few years. While the signs of improvement under their former coach Heath Streak were there, the failure to qualify for the upcoming World Cup stung them hard. Sikandar Raza, one of their most reliable players was released from contract by Zimbabwe cricket board due to some differences. On top of that, the results were not coming. They have been losing games both home and away.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, have gone from strength to strength since the 2015 cricket World Cup. They have become a force to reckon with for every international cricketing side. This was on display again recently in the Asia Cup, where despite the injuries of their key players like Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hassan, they managed to reach the final of the tournament and almost won it.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe had an unsuccessful tour of South Africa, where they lost both the cricket ODI and T20 series. They were good in parts but largely inconsistent with the bat and lacked the killer blow while bowling. There were some positives though, the biggest one of them being the introduction of Brendon Mavuta, a leg-spinner who could also bat. With the growing trend of having leg spinners in the team, it was a welcome addition to the team.
It should be an interesting series if Bangladesh struggle with injuries as it will help Zimbabwe to target the weak links of Bangladesh line up. However, if Bangladesh plays to its potential, it is hard to see Zimbabwe win anything on this tour.

Zimbabwe cricket tour of Bangladesh begins with the first ODI at Mirpur, Dhaka. On this tour, Zimbabwe will be playing three ODIs and two test matches. Zimbabwe last toured Bangladesh in 2015/16 and lost all three ODIs against Bangladesh.

- Imrul Kayes

Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Zimbabwe struggled on the tour of South Africa. On the spinning surface of Bangladesh, they would like to include some spinners into the team. Hence, our prediction is to expect the spinners like Mavuta in their lineup.
Here is our prediction of Zimbabwe playing XI:
- Hamilton Masakadza
- SF Mire
- CR Ervine
- Brendon Taylor
- SC Williams
- PJ Moor
- Elton Chigumbura

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Liton Das scored a memorable hundred in the Asia Cup final. In the absence of Tamim Iqbal, it presents him with another opportunity to seal his spot as an opener. Our prediction is to expect a good score from him in the first ODI.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
In the last cricket game played here between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the score of 221 proved to be match-winning for Sri Lanka. With pitch expected to assist the spinners, the score of around 250 should prove to be a winning score. Conditions are expected to be dry though some dew is expected in the evening.
Bangladesh will begin the game as the favourites. They are playing on their home ground and they have a very passionate crowd backing them on those grounds. Our prediction is to expect a one-sided Bangladesh victory in the first game of cricket.
