Cricket Match Preview:
Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh has now reached its last leg. After the ODI cricket series, the two test match series will be played between the two sides. Bangladesh had already won the ODI series played between the sides by the margin of 3-0.
This series is going to be an interesting one as none of these sides has truly been in good form in Test cricket. Although Bangladesh are expected to do well in their home conditions, they have not done well in the longer format of the game. They were thoroughly outplayed in West Indies when they were bowled out for cheap scores in both test matches and eventually lost the games easily.
Zimbabwe have not been in great form in the longer format of the games either. In fact, as the ICC tried the four-day Test match last year, Zimbabwe played South Africa and Zimbabwe ended up losing the game. With cricket in great decline in the country, Zimbabwe will have to improve a great deal to make an impression.
Zimbabwe will be eyeing the batting lineup of Bangladesh, which looks a bit short of experience. They know that if they can dismiss Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah, they have the chance to have an advantage over Bangladesh. Bangladesh, on the other hand, would be targeting the inexperienced Zimbabwe in these conditions.
Bangladesh will still be formidable in home conditions as the pitches will favour them. The spinning pitch will aid their cause and their batsmen will also relish playing in the home conditions. It is going to be a tough challenge for Zimbabwe, one which if they overcome can help their cricket a great deal.
Cricket Match Information:
Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will resume their battle as they will take on each other in the first Test match of the two Test match cricket series. Bangladesh have already defeated Zimbabwe in the ODI series played before the Test series.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Zimbabwe will look to play the spinners in the first test as the pitch is expected to be a typical Bangladeshi pitch. The pitch is expected to take spin hence, our prediction is that they are going to play Brendon Mavuta, the leg spinner, in the first test match of the cricket series.
Here is our prediction of Zimbabwe’s playing XI:
- Hamilton Masakadza
- SF Mire
- Brendon Taylor
- SC Williams
- Craig Ervine
- Elton Chigumbura
- Brendon Mavuta
- Peter Moor
- TL Chatara
- DT Tiripano
- KM Jarvis
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Bangladesh still do not have the services of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, two of their senior most players. They will especially miss Shakib, who has been taking the responsibility of both bowler and the batsman. Our prediction is that they are going to play an extra spinner now that they do not have the luxury of having Shakib Al Hasan.
Here is our prediction of Bangladesh’s playing XI:
- Liton Das
- Imrul Kayes
- Mushfiqur Rahim
- Mohammad Mithun
- Mominul Haque
- Mehidy Hasan Miraz
- Mustafizur Rahman
- Nazmul Islam
- Shafiul Islam
- Taijul Islam
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
In the absence of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, the extra responsibility of batting will lie with Mushfiqur Rahim. He has been in amazing form in limited overs cricket hence, more of the same line is expected from him come the first test match.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Pitch in Sylhet is expected to spin a lot. Every home side is preparing the pitches to support their bowlers and Bangladesh will be doing the same. The test matches against England last year were played on almost the minefield hence, Zimbabwe will have their task cut out. The batsmen will have to get set first and ensure that once they have got the start, they should not waste it. Conditions are expected to be dry.
Bangladesh will begin the test cricket series as a massive favourite. The pitches are going to spin a lot. Experienced Zimbabwean batsmen like Hamilton Masakadza and Brendon Taylor will have to score big to give their bowlers some chance in this series.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Mushfiqur Rahim (Ban) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Mustafizur Rahim (Ban) – 2 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
Imrul Kayes (Ban)
Bangladesh – 1.20
Zimbabwe – 12.00
