Cricket Match Preview:
England women will look to avoid slipping in a cricket game that can be termed as a banana peel for them. Bangladesh women are not the strongest team in Group A, but they certainly are not a walkover. In a group consisting of current champions West Indies women and South Africa women, England women are expected to go further in the tournament and hence, they would like to win this game of cricket.
The watershed moment for Bangladesh women came when they managed to beat the mighty India women not only once but twice including the final of the Asia Cup. They had never beaten India before in any game, thus the impact of such a mammoth victory cannot be understated.
Bangladesh women have also not beaten England women’s team ever and that is where the win in Asia Cup will help them mentally.
England meanwhile comes with expectations, expectations of going further than they did the last time in 2016 World T20 when they just missed the final against West Indies women by 5 runs. They will be without two of their star performers though, all-rounder Katherine Brunt and excellent wicketkeeper-batsman Sarah Taylor are not part of their squad for different reasons. However, they are currently the World champions in 50 over format and they are expected to have depth to compensate for those losses.
The first game of Bangladesh women against West Indies told us about the vulnerabilities of their team. They had a very good outing with the ball as they restricted the world champions to a mediocre total of 106 runs in 20 overs. But they completely fell apart while batting as the pace bowling of DJ Dottin proved to be too much for them to handle. Bangladesh succumbed to an embarrassing total of 46 as they lost the game by a huge margin of 60 runs. Even during their match against Pakistan women earlier this year, they got out for a total of 30 runs and, clearly, this is a problem they have to get rid off in order to move ahead.
England women, on other hand, lost their only warm-up game against India women. They have only played 10 international T20 cricket games this year. However, to their credit, they have been fairly successful in those games. They were runners-up in the tri-nation T20 cricket series played in India, involving hosts India and Australia. They won the tri-nation series involving New Zealand and Ireland women as well. Hence, expectations are high from this England team.
Cricket Match Information:
Bangladesh women will take on England women in their second game of the World T20 cricket tournament. While Bangladesh lost their first cricket game against West Indies women in a one-sided manner, England Women’s first game got abandoned. It is a crucial cricket game for both teams as the race to get into the next round gets intense.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Bangladesh women had a good outing with the ball against the West Indies women as they restricted them for a total of 106 runs. But they had a horrible outing with the bat and our prediction is they might undergo some changes to that part of their playing eleven.
Here is our prediction of India Women’s playing XI:
- Shamima Sultana
- Ayasha Rahman
- Jahanara Alam
- Fargana Hoque
- Nigar Sultana
- Rumana Ahmed
- Sanjida Aslam
- Lata Mondal
- Fahima Khatun
- Salma Khatun
- Khadija Tul Kubra
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
England women’s first cricket game in the World T20, unfortunately, got abandoned without a ball being bowled. However, their warm-up game against India gave a peek into their thinking.
Here is our prediction of Pakistan’s playing XI:
- DN Wyatt
- NR Schiver
- Heather Knight
- Tammy Beaumont
- AE Jones
- L Winfield
- A Shrubsole
- JL Gunn
- LCN Smith
- S Ecclestone
- D Hazell
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Danielle Wyat is the cricketer with the highest batting strike rate in England’s women cricket team. She had a hugely successful series in India when she had a good run of scores. Our prediction is of a typical quick knock from her.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last T20 international cricket game played on this ground was between Australia and West Indies men’s cricket teams back in 2012, when West Indies scored 150 runs and Australia chased down the total easily by 8 wickets. Our prediction is the score of around 150 will prove to be match-winning. Conditions are expected to be wet as rain is expected to intrude again.
England women will begin the game as huge favourites. Bangladesh women’s poor first game would have hurt their confidence and hence, our prediction is England women’s victory.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Danielle Wyat (ENG) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
A Shrubsole (ENG) – 2 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
Danielle Wyat (ENG)
Bangladesh Women – 11.25
England Women – 1.01
