Cricket Match Preview:
Barbados Tridents will play their second game in two days when they will take on Jamaica Tallawahs on their home ground. Their last game did not go according to plan as they were defeated by Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) by 12 runs via D/L method. Their opponents of this game, Jamaica Tallawahs, have had a bad tournament so far with just one win out of seven games and they would like to finish strongly in their remaining cricket games.
Tridents were coming off a huge win against St Lucia Zouks prior to their game against GAW. They had won the game by 71 runs and were looking to get into a winning streak. But GAW have been a different beast this year. Their bowlers never allowed any Tridents’ batsmen to get in and kept striking regularly.
For Tallawahs, it has been an indifferent year. Despite having arguably two of the biggest superstars of T20 cricket in Chris Gayle and Andre Russell, they have not managed to string wins together. The injury of Andre Russell did not help the matter and the muddled strategy of team management has not helped their cause either.
For Tridents, the problem has been their batting, which has not been consistent enough. In their last cricket game, after every top order batsmen got started, none of them could bat through the innings. The likes of Jason Holder and Jonathan Carter of middle order failed to contribute as well. They need to be scoring a lot more runs to bring in the cushion for Sandeep Lamichhane, their leg spinner, to really do the damage.
Tallawahs would now be just looking to have some fun and we might just see them expressing themselves more. The likes of Gayle and Russell have not been at their best barring one odd knock. Gayle might just be playing his last Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and with just three games of cricket remaining, the great player would like to stamp his mark.
