Cricket Match Preview:

Brisbane Heat got off to a poor start in the tournament as they lost their first cricket game against the defending champions, Adelaide Strikers. Hobart Hurricanes will be looking to start on a good note against the struggling Heat team. Hurricanes will be looking to do one better on this occasion as they finished as the runners-up in last year’s Big Bash League against Adelaide Strikers.

Despite losing Brendon McCullum on the second ball, Heat got off to a flying start, thanks to their captain Chris Lynn, who was looking ominous for the strikers during his stay. But as soon as Lynn fell against Peter Siddle, their innings collapsed and they were tottering at one stage at 101 for 9 wickets. But due to some smart batting by Mujeeb ur Rahman and JJ Peirson, Heat put up a fighting total of 146 runs on the board.

In reply, Strikers never looked in trouble and comfortably chased down the target in 19.1 overs with 5 wickets remaining. Hobart Hurricanes will be looking to do something similar against the Heat, whose power seems to rely mostly on Chris Lynn and Brendon McCullum at the top of the order. If they can separate the two, it will mean that half of the job is done.

Hurricanes have the list of match-winners in their lineup. They have the future superstar of fast bowling in Jofra Archer, whereas they have one of the best openers in limited overs international of Australia in D’Arcy Short. They would be hoping that James Faulkner can replace Dan Christian in the lineup, with both bat and ball as they are definitely going to miss Christian as an all-rounder.

Heat, on the other hand, would like to believe that there is more to their team than the Bash brothers. They have mystery in their lineup in the form of Mujeeb Ur Rahman and they would be hoping for that mystery to sustain the entire period of the tournament.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

The only international cricket T20 game that has been played here was between Australia and South Africa. It was a rain-hit cricket game, where South Africa on batting first scored 108 runs in their 10 overs and Australia could muster only 87 in their chase. Our prediction is of scores over 180 in this game of cricket. Conditions are expected to be dry.

Our Prediction:

Hobart Hurricanes will begin this game of cricket as favourites. In the last 5 cricket games played between these two sides, Hurricanes have managed to win 4 games of cricket while Heat could only win one. Hence, our prediction is of Hobart Hurricanes’ victory in this game of cricket and a second consecutive loss for Brisbane Heat in the competition.
