Cricket Match Preview:
The second cricket match of the doubleheader will see Durban Heat taking on Paarl Rocks at the Kingsmead, Durban. Both teams are yet to hit the ground running. Durban Heat and Paarl Stars have picked up a solitary win from their three cricket matches so far and lie in the fourth and fifth spot on the points table respectively.
Durban Heat, who will be the home cricket team here, went down to Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in their last encounter. Batting first, the Heats could manage only 127 runs on the board despite playing out all the 20 overs. Their top-four, including Hashim Amla and David Miller, failed to get a good score. Captain Albie Morkel, along with the tail, chipped in with some crucial runs.
Defending such a low total was always going to be an arduous task. Durban cricket team could not strike early thus the opposition consolidated in the initial overs and successfully completed the chase with nine wickets in hand. Vernon Philander was the pick of the bowlers for Heat with 1/17 but it was not enough to clinch the win.
Paarl Rocks pulled off a stunning win against Cape Town Blitz and opened their account in the MSL. The Blitz had built an impressive string of wins but the Rocks proved fatal. The pair of Bjorn Fortuin and Dane Paterson shared seven wickets as the Rocks dismissed Cape Town for only 140 runs.
In reply, the Rocks were in trouble at 3/2 in 1.4 overs. The Protea captain FAF Du Plessis and Vaughn Van Jaarsveld stitched an important partnership from the delicate position and helped the team gain the upper hand. Du Plessis’ 54 proved to be the match-winning knock and the Rocks claimed a five-wicket win.
The upbeat Paarl Rocks now face Durban Heat who will be seeking to come on top at their home cricket ground. A fierce battle can be expected between two tough teams.
Cricket Match Information:
This is the 14th Cricket match of the Mzansi Super League. This is the fourth match of Durban Heat and third at home cricket ground. They began with two consecutive losses and finally picked up a win against Cape Town Blitz.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Durban Heat failed to perform with the bat in their previous game. However, their top four are all high-quality batsmen. Morne Van Wyk, Hashim Amla, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller need to pick themselves up and deliver for the side.
