Cricket Match Preview:

Mzansi Super League is up and running. All the teams have played one cricket game each and so far, only Cape Town Blitz, Tshwane Spartans and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants have won the games of cricket. Durban Heat is one of those teams, who are yet to open their account in the tournament. They will look to open their win account in this game of cricket.

Tshwane Spartans, led by AB de Villiers, have played a mercurial brand of cricket so far. While in the first game of cricket, they were well in contention while chasing the score of 181 but had a sudden collapse and lost the game of cricket by 49 runs. In the second game of cricket, they posted 203 runs on the board only to defend it by one run. It will be interesting to see which Spartans side take the field in the next game.

Durban Heat, led by Albie Morkel, had a disappointing game of cricket against the Cape Town Blitz team. Their batting failed to get going despite the presence of South African stalwarts like Hashim Amla and Albie Morkel. Then while defending, they were defeated by a single knock of Pakistani batsman Asif Ali, who scored 80 off just 33 deliveries.

Durban Heat would know that they are not very far from their perfect game of cricket. If Hashim Amla can get going at the top of the order, then lots of their problems will be solved. Their bowling is in safe hands of Vernon Philander, Kyle Abbot and Keshav Maharaj, two of whom are part of the current South African test team. If Maharaj has a good tournament, he might be in contention to be a part of South African world cup squad.

Cricket Match Information:

Durban Heat will take on Tshwane Spartans in their second cricket game of the Mzansi Super League. There is still a long way to go in the tournament for all the teams but both Heat and Spartans would not like to lose too many games of cricket upfront.

Durban Heat

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

Despite the loss in the first cricket game, Durban Heat would not be losing too much sweat over it. They are likely to go with the same combination as their last game. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven as their last game.

Here is our prediction of Durban Heat’s playing XI:

  • MN van Wyak
  • Hashim Amla
  • SJ Erwee
  • T Bavuma
  • K Zondo
  • Albie Morkal
  • Vernon Philander
  • P Subrayen
  • Kesav Maharaj
  • Kyle Abbot
  • Merchant de Lange

Tshwane Spartans

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

AB de Villers-led Spartans showed admirable character in their second game of cricket despite the loss in the first game. They scored freely and big against Paarl Rocks, thanks to an unbelievable knock by GL Cloete and TB de Bruyn, both of whom scored 80 and 66 respectively. Our prediction is they will go with the same eleven as their last game of cricket.

Here is our prediction of Tshwane Spartans’ playing XI:

  • GL Cloete
  • TB de Bruyn
  • AB de Villiers
  • Riley Russouw
  • Dean Elgar
  • T de Zorzi
  • RK Klienveldt
  • R Frylinck
  • ACR Birch
  • BMAJ Mendis
  • L Sipamla

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

AB de Villiers is slowly but surely getting into the groove. He scored a fluent half-century in the first game followed by a 30. Our prediction is we will get to see a typical de Villiers knock in the next game.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

Durban Heat have always provided help to the bowlers especially under the lights. Hence, the team batting second will have to be careful in the first 6 overs about not losing too many wickets up front. However, once they are through that period, we invariably get to see big scores. Our prediction is of a score around 160 will prove to be a match-winning one.

Our Prediction:

Durban Heat will begin the game as favourites despite the victory of Spartans in last game of cricket. The bowling of Spartans is not inspiring much confidence and that might prove to be their biggest hindrance in this tournament. Hence, with a better all-around team, Heat is our choice for this game.

Top Batsman (Prediction):

AB de Villiers (TS) – 50+ runs

Top Bowler (Prediction):

Vernon Philander (DH) – 2 or more wickets

Most Sixes (Prediction):

AB de Villiers (TS)
