Cricket Match Preview:
So, fans were right about the 1992 theory. We were just looking the wrong way. It was not supposed to be about Pakistan, it was England, silly. England were the other finalist of that 1992 cricket World Cup and they have reached their first final since that tournament. New Zealand were very much part of that story, too. Their run was then abruptly ended in the semi-final by Pakistan. After the domination of Australia in this tournament, we will finally have a new winner.
In the last three cricket World Cups, the host nations have emerged as the winners and if that remains true on Sunday, ‘it will definitely be coming home’ for England. After being put under severe pressure in the group stage by that Sri Lankan victory, England have shown their class and have registered wins in each of their last three games against India, New Zealand and, now, against Australia.
New Zealand broke the hearts of a billion fans when they defeated India in the first semi-final. Against all odds, they played their finest game and shocked Virat Kohli’s men. After putting up a modest total of 239 runs on the board, the opening burst of Matt Henry and Trent Boult left India tottering at four down for not many. After that, India were always up against it and despite the heroics of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, it just proved to be a bit too much.
England and New Zealand have never faced each other in the final of a cricket World Cup. The last time they faced each other in the knockout game was in 1979 semi-final, where England defeated their opponent by a mere nine runs. It has been a case of too-close-and-yet-so-far for both these teams over the years. There have been numerous knockout games for both but both have failed at the final hurdle many times. But now it is going to change for one of these two phenomenal sides.
England have been the best team over the last four years, whereas New Zealand have remained as consistent as ever. Going by the sheer numbers and man-to-man comparison, England are supposed to be clear favourites for this game but count out New Zealand at your own peril after the first semi-final. In the end, it is going to be jubilation for one country and heartbreak for another but whatever happens, these two teams have made their nations proud.

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Jofra Archer, what a ride it has been for him. From being nowhere in the mix to getting fast-tracked to play for England, he has shown no nerves. Got the Australian skipper off the first ball in the World Cup semi-final, this is what dreams are made of. If he has another good game, it will be hard to stop him for New Zealand. Our prediction is of another good game from him.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last international ODI cricket game played here was between Pakistan and Bangladesh recently. It was a game that Pakistan won easily after scoring 315 runs batting first. Our prediction is of the score of around 275 in this game of cricket. Conditions are expected to be dry.
England will begin this game of cricket as favourites. They have won four out of the last five games played between the two sides. They also won the group game between the two sides easily. Hence, our prediction is of an England win.
