Cricket Match Preview:
England are back on track in this cricket World Cup. It took the near point of no return, with them slipping and Pakistan surging in their last few games, for them to bring their best game against the Indian cricket team. Now, courtesy of their win over India, England are back in the top four and will be confident taking on New Zealand.
New Zealand find themselves in a bit of mini-slump as well. They have lost two back-to-back cricket games and, while they are not in danger of losing the semi-final spot courtesy of their high run-rate, they would not want to go into the knockout games with low confidence. They have the chance to knock out the host nation though as it is another must-win game for them if they have to stay alive in the competition.
England got everything going for them in their game against India. They got the flat deck to their liking and won the toss. On choosing to bat first, England batted with the same freedom, which the crowd had become accustomed to in the past four years. With Jason Roy back at the top, Jonny Bairstow found a familiar ally, and both took apart the Indian spinners after seeing off the spells from Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.
New Zealand, on the other hand, found life difficult in the past two cricket games because Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor did not fire. Their batting has been increasingly dependent on both of them but if they do not find someone supporting them soon, it is going to once again be an uphill task for them. Their bowling looks in fine form with Trent Boult picking up a hat-trick and Lockie Ferguson bowling quick.
It all began with an embarrassing loss against New Zealand in the 2015 World Cup that England decided to emulate their style of play. Now life has come full circle for both sides with New Zealand finding things difficult at the top of the order, whereas England are going to be a handful for them to be controlled in a big game.
