Cricket Match Preview:

England and West Indies played a bilateral cricket series to remember just a few months ago. That series showed the batting might of both these sides and a lot of runs were scored. It was a cricket series, where if West Indies posted around 400 runs, England chased it down and if England posted 380 West Indies, chased it down. Fair to say, if the pitch is anywhere close to those games in Southampton, we are going to see a lot of runs once again.

Both sides would, however, claim that they are more than just the batting powerhouse. While England can claim that they have two of the fastest bowlers in the competition in Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, West Indies have been brilliant with the usage of short balls so far. In this battle, there is another factor, which is likely to play a big part. Jofra Archer is a West Indies player, who has opted to play for England. Tempers are expected to flare as Archer would like to show West Indies what they have missed out on, whereas West Indies would like to show Archer who is the real loser.

The rain has been playing a spoilsport in lots of cricket games in the past few days. It is expected to play a part in this game as well, but we should get to see a game. With rain around, a lot changes for the sides with most of them opting to chase as Duckworth and Lewis method tends to favour the chasing sides. But what rain also does is it brings moisture in the play, which will favour the bowlers at the start of the game.

If we do get a full game, then it is going to be a cracker as both these sides will not hold back. With some much-needed rest, Chris Gayle and Andre Russell will be ready to wreak havoc, whereas England will be itching to go and perform like tournament favourites. All that is needed now is the English ‘summer’ to stay true to its name.

Cricket Match Information:

England will take on West Indies in their fourth cricket game of the World Cup 2019. As of now, England are on the second position on the points table with two wins out of three wins, whereas West Indies are on the sixth position with just one win out of three cricket games. The top four teams will move to the semi-final.

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

England came back strongly in the game against Bangladesh post their loss against Pakistan. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game against Bangladesh.

Here is our prediction of England’s playing XI:

  • Jos Butler
  • Johnny Bairstow
  • Joe Root
  • Ben Stokes
  • Jason Roy
  • Eoin Morgan
  • Chris Woakes
  • Liam Plunkett
  • Adil Rashid
  • Jofra Archer
  • Mark Wood

West Indies

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

West Indies are being led by inspirational Jason Holder. Their last cricket game was washed out against South Africa. Our prediction is of the same lineup that played against South Africa.

Here is our prediction of West Indies’ playing XI:

  • Shai Hope
  • Chris Gayle
  • Shimron Hetmyer
  • Evin Lewis
  • Nicholas Pooran
  • Sheldon Cottrell
  • Ashley Nurse
  • Carlos Brathwaite
  • Oshane Thomas
  • Andre Russell
  • Jason Holder

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

Jason Roy will once again be the centre of attraction because of his form. West Indies do not have a good spinner, who can trouble Roy at the beginning of the innings. Hence, our prediction is of a good knock from Roy once again.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

The last cricket ODI played here was between West Indies and South Africa. There were only a handful of overs bowled in that game and there was enough evidence to suggest the ample help for bowlers. However, if the sun shines, then it is going to be easy for the batsmen and our prediction is of the score of around 350. Conditions are expected to be cool and rain is expected to play a part.

Our Prediction:

England will begin the game of cricket as favourites. They are the number one cricket side of the format hence, our prediction is of an England win, but if any side can take the game to England, it is West Indies.

Top Batsman (Prediction):

Jason Roy (ENG) – 100+ runs

Top Bowler (Prediction):

Jofra Archer (ENG) – 2 or more wickets

Most Sixes (Prediction):

Andre Russell (WI)
