It is expected to be a thrilling game once again when these two sides meet at Providence Stadium, Guyana. After getting past the Warriors easily in the first game Trinbago were left stunned in the second game between these two sides. Once again on winning the toss, Guyana sent Knight riders to bat first. They soon had Knight Riders 3 down for merely 23 runs on the board.

Then due to some useful contributions down the order Knight Riders reached a total of 154 runs. They had scored 170 in their last game and won the game by a huge margin. TKR would have backed themselves of defending this total despite the absence of Sunil Narine. They began well as well when they dismissed Luke Ronchi cheaply again. However, Guyana was steady and after 10 overs mark, they were 86 for 3.

However, what transpired post that was remarkable. Shimron Hetmyer and Sherfane Rutherford put on a stunning display of hitting against the best side in the tournament. Guyana scored an astonishing 79 runs in their last four overs. This led to their victory in only 14.1 overs while also putting them on the second spot on the table ahead of Jamaica Tallawahs based on the superior run-rate.

While it would have disappointed the Knight Riders, they still finished at the top of the table with 7 wins out of their 10 games. 2 out of their 3 losses came in extraordinary circumstances and only when somebody played out of their skin. They still would be confident to get to the final, especially when Sunil Narine will return. Their wins have been comprehensive as well and with an all-around team, they would be hard to beat.

Guyana came back strongly after losing 2 of their last games. It was a much-improved performance from their bowlers as well as the batsmen. They would have been especially pleased with the form shown by their two youngsters Shimron Hetmyer and Sherfane Rutherford who are just 20-year olds. The form shown by these two would help their bigger players to play with more freedom.

It is going to be a wonderful clash between the number one and number two team in the tournament. If the bigger players involved can put on a show it will be a night to remember. However, even if they fail there is enough young talent in these two teams to light up the night.

Trinbago Knight Riders will take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in the first qualifier of Caribbean Premier League of 2018 edition. These two finished as first and second respectively on the points table in the group stage. This gives the loser of this match the advantage of having another chance to reach the final if they lose this game. The second qualifier will be played on the 15th September and the final will be played on the 17th September.

Guyana chased down the total quite easily in the last game after deciding to bat second on winning the toss. They may decide to continue with the pattern here. Knight Riders too would want to bat second provided their batting depth and the loss in the last game. The pitch is expected to be better for the first qualifier.

This ground hasn’t quite seen the big scores that we have seen in some of the other venues. The highest score so far has been of 185 set by Barbados Tridents. Rest of the scores have been in 140s and 150s. However, it can all change in the first qualifier because the tournament needs a big score in the first qualifier. These two teams have the required batting might and a good pitch might allow them to explode. The match is expected to be rain-free.

Despite the loss in their previous game Trinbago Knight Rider will begin this match as the favourite. They have the all-around team to tackle all kinds of situation. Their experience in these games will matter a great deal as well.
