Matthew Wade is back leading the side for Hobart Hurricanes. Due to his Australian test team commitments, he was not available to lead the side initially. Captaincy has not proven to be auspicious so far for Wade as Hobart has lost two consecutive games of cricket.
Wade himself scored 61 runs off 46 balls but could not take Hurricanes to a safe score in the game against Brisbane Heat. In the next game against Sydney Thunder, Hobart failed to defend the score of 163 runs.
With just a handful of games remaining before the playoffs, Hurricanes would like to get back into the top five soon. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game.
Here is our prediction of Hobart Hurricanes’ playing XI:
- BR McDermott
- Matthew Wade
- David Miller
- CP Jewell
- S Milenko
- NT Ellis
- Qais Ahmad
- George Bailey
- TS Rogers
- SM Boland
- CA Rose
Perth Scorchers are being led by Mitch Marsh in this season of Big Bash League. After beginning poorly again this season, Scorchers have begun to string wins together.
Scorchers have won four games out of the eight matches played so far. They are just behind Brisbane Heat in the points table because of a slightly inferior run-rate. If the last cricket game against Brisbane Heat is anything to go by, Perth Scorchers are looking good once again. Against Heat, on choosing to bat first, Perth hammered 213 runs courtesy of a brutal knock of 93 runs off just 41 balls from skipper Marsh. That score proved to be 34 more than what Brisbane would get and Perth registered a fine win.
Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game barring any injury.
Here is our prediction of Perth Scorchers’ playing XI:
- Mitch Marsh
- Liam Livingstone
- Cameron Bancroft
- SM Whiteman
- Jhye Richardson
- Chris Jordan
- Ashton Agar
- JP Inglis
- Fawad Ahmed
- C Green
- JS Paris
Expert Prediction: HH vs PS
The group topper of last year, Hobart Hurricanes, have slipped further on the points table following the loss against Sydney Thunder. On the other hand, League’s most successful side, Perth Scorchers, have moved up to the fifth spot following a win against Brisbane Heat. It is crunch time for both teams as Hobart cannot afford to slip further, whereas Scorchers have everything to play for in the next couple of games.
There has been a change in format this year. The tournament is being played over a period of 42 days and a total number of five teams have the chance to qualify for the finals, instead of the usual four teams.
As per the new format, the teams finishing in the top two will be rewarded for their consistency, unlike in previous seasons. While the winner of the ‘qualifier’ played between the top two teams will reach the final straightaway, the loser will play the ‘challenger’ against the winner of the ‘knockout’ which is going to be played between the side that finished third and winner of the ‘eliminator’.
The Eliminator is a newly introduced knockout feature, which will be played between the teams finishing at number fourth and fifth on the points table. Hence, out of the eight teams, five teams will have a chance to play the final and win the tournament.
In the last five encounters between the two sides, Scorchers have managed to win just one game of cricket, whereas Hobart have emerged winner on four other occasions.
Our prediction is of a win for Perth Scorchers. They are oozing with confidence right now, whereas Hobart have slightly low morale.
Toss prediction? – The team winning the toss will definitely look to bowl first as the T20 game is hugely a chase-friendly format. Hence, irrespective of the conditions, our prediction is that the team winning the toss would like to bowl first.
