India are once again being led by Virat Kohli in this cricket series. India had a poor tour of New Zealand, where they were whitewashed by the hosts in both ODI and Test series.
The first ODI was abandoned against South Africa due to the rain in Dharamshala. India have a lot of important men making a comeback for them in this cricket series. The likes of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan, who have been out of the team for different reasons, are making a comeback in the team.
Our prediction is of the inclusion of the trio straightaway in the playing eleven.
Here is our prediction of India’s playing XI:
- Virat Kohli
- Shikhar Dhawan
- Prithvi Shaw
- Shreyas Iyer
- KL Rahul
- Manish Pandey
- Hardik Pandya
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
- YS Chahal
- Jasprit Bumrah
South Africa are being led by Quinton de Kock in this cricket series. The freshly appointed skipper tasted a big success recently against arch-rivals Australia in the three-match ODI cricket series.
South Africa have come up with an inexperienced squad, which is missing Kagiso Rabada and Tabraiz Shamsi. They will have the services of former captain Faf du Plessis though. They have a couple of youngsters in Janneman Malan and Jon-Jon Smuts, who have done well against Australia recently.
Our prediction is of the inclusion of Janneman Malan in the playing eleven for the first game in place of injured Temba Bavuma.

- Janneman Malan

Expert Prediction: IND vs SA
Under the unprecedented conditions, the India versus South Africa cricket series is still going ahead. When the entire world is struggling with Coronavirus, BCCI and CSA have decided against the cancelling of the series and instead have decided to go ahead and play the series without the audience. The next two ODI cricket games are going to be played in an empty stadium.
The biggest news in the last couple of days has been the postponement of the IPL. The tournament, which is supposed to begin from 29th of March 29, is now postponed to 15th of April.
Now, even amidst the growing cases of Coronavirus in India, this series has been given a go-ahead and it remains to be seen what implications it will have on the players. The cases in India have seen a rise in the past couple of days and further changes cannot be ruled out.
On the cricketing front, India would be looking to get back to winning ways in familiar conditions, whereas South Africa would be determined to continue their good habits in the ODI format. India would be back to near full strength in this cricket series with only Rohit Sharma still out injured. South Africa, on the other hand, would still be without their fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and spinner Tabraiz Shamsi.
With the return of their premier allrounder Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, India would be too powerful in their own conditions. Pandya, in particular, has been in a sensational form with the bat in recent times and would be looking to make the impact immediately.
South Africa, on the other hand, have seen the rise of Henrich Klassen, Janneman Malan, Jon-Jon Smuts and David Miller in the recent series against Australia. Each of the batsmen took responsibility against a strong Australia attack and took their side to the position of strength.
As predicted before the first game, despite South Africa’s recent improvements, our prediction is of a win for India in the second game. Their side and their familiarity with the conditions give them a distinct advantage, whereas South Africa would be looking to adapt to the unknown surface of Lucknow.
