Cricket Match Preview:

India sans Shikhar Dhawan will now look to continue their fine run in the cricket World Cup 2019. Shikhar Dhawan has now been ruled out of the tournament due to a thumb injury he sustained during the India-Australia cricket game. India have decided to replace Dhawan with the young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. India are unbeaten so far in the tournament along with New Zealand.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, have been quite disappointing in the tournament so far. A lot was expected of this inspirational lot but due to various reasons, they have consistently degraded in the tournament so far. Their last cricket game against England was arguably the worst of their entire cricketing journey. No team had attacked their bowling as brutally as Eoin Morgan’s England did. It looks hard for them to recover from such onslaught.

India will not be bringing in Rishabh Pant straightaway as Vijay Shankar impressed everyone with his bowling against Pakistan. Shankar came into the bowl at a tough time when one of India’s main fast bowlers, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, got injured and immediately provided India with a breakthrough. India have been hit hard by injury so far but fortunately for them, their depth has been enough to keep them unbeaten.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, have gone through some self-inflicted damage. Their decision to replace their captain, Asghar Afghan, just before the tournament was widely criticised and as confirmed by their current coach, Phil Simmons, yesterday, that decision did not come from the right place. Even in the tournament, their selections have been highly questionable and it feels as if someone from outside is pulling the strings.

India, after winning against the likes of South Africa, Australia and Pakistan, will be looking at the next few cricket games to get their other aspects of the game smooth. For now, with seemingly tougher opponents out of the way, India would ideally like their new opener, KL Rahul, to settle into his role and Mohammad Shami, who will be replacing Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in the next few games, to be in prime rhythm before the tougher games ahead.

Cricket Match Information:

India will take on Afghanistan in their fifth and sixth game of the World Cup, respectively. Currently, India are on the fourth spot on the points table, whereas Afghanistan are on the last spot. The top four cricket teams will go through to the semi-final.

India

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

India are being led by Virat Kohli in this tournament. They are coming into this game after three back-to-back wins. Our prediction is of the inclusion of Mohammad Shami into the playing eleven in place of injured Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.

Here is our prediction of India’s playing XI:

  • Rohit Sharma
  • KL Rahul
  • Virat Kohli
  • Vijay Shankar
  • MS Dhoni
  • Kedar Jadhav
  • Kuldeep Yadav
  • Mohammad Shami
  • Jasprit Bumrah
  • Yuzvendra Chahal
  • Hardik Pandya

Afghanistan

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

Afghanistan are being led by Gulbadin Naib in this World Cup. Afghanistan have been miserable in the tournament so far. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played their last game for this game of cricket.

Here is our prediction of Afghanistan’s playing XI:

  • Noor Ali Zadran
  • Hazratullah Zazai
  • Rahmat Shah
  • Hashmatullah Shahidi
  • Asghar Afghan
  • Mohammad Nabi
  • Ikram Alikhil
  • Najibullah Zadran
  • Gulbadin Naib
  • Rashid Khan

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

All eyes will be on KL Rahul now that Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the tournament. He played well against Pakistan in the last cricket game. Our prediction is of another good game for him.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

The last international cricket ODI cricket played here was between West Indies and England recently. England won that cricket game by eight wickets by chasing 212 runs set by West Indies. Our prediction is of the score of around 300 in this cricket game especially if India bat first. Conditions are expected to be cool and dry.

Our Prediction:

India will begin this game of cricket as favourites. Although the last ODI between these two sides ended up in a tie, that Indian side did not have Virat Kohli in the eleven. Our prediction is of India’s win.

Top Batsman (Prediction):

Virat Kohli (IND) – 50+ runs

Top Bowler (Prediction):

Jasprit Bumrah (IND) – 2 or more wickets

Most Sixes (Prediction):

Hardik Pandya (IND)
