That day is here, the day fans have been anxiously waiting for. Malik vs Kuldeep and Chahal, Fakhar vs Bumrah and Bhuvi, Rohit vs Aamir and Usman. These are the mini-battles within the battle that fans have been waiting for more than a year now. Such has been the state of relations between the two countries that games between the two sides are now confined to only ICC tournaments. Bilateral series between the two sides have almost ceased to exist and will stay the same for at least a few more months if not more. Hence, all these factors make this contest and this tournament a blessing for all those who want to see these two teams compete more regularly.

In the last 5 games played between the two sides, India has had the upper hand over Pakistan. They have won 3 out of the 5 games played but Pakistan would take heart from the fact that they won the last encounter between these two teams in Champions Trophy final by a huge margin of 180 runs. Pakistan has become a far more confident side since then and has improved in every aspect of their game.

India will be playing in this game and tournament without their biggest superstar and captain Virat Kohli. This is going to be a huge factor in this clash as Kohli has had a fine record against Pakistan. However, his absence brings the opportunity to some of the other young players to become a hero in a much-anticipated clash. Pakistan would look at this as a vulnerable aspect of Indian side because now apart from their number 4 position, even number 3 will have a new player. This would put immense pressure on the experienced pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma to provide India with a good start.

India would also be looking with great expectation at their former skipper MS Dhoni to guide the inexperienced middle order. It will also be interesting to see where India bats him. Pakistan will most likely have a pace-dominated attack with Shahdab Khan and Shoaib Malik taking the responsibility of spin bowling in the middle overs.

It will also be interesting to see how the increasingly improving Indian attack fare against the Pakistani batting line up. These two aspects have been the least highlighted part of previous India-Pakistan games but not anymore with both the teams improving on respective part of the game. Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar are one of the best opening bowling partnerships in the world and they would look to pick some early wickets considering how dangerous Fakhar Zaman has been at the top. It will also be fascinating to see how India’s spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal fare against Shoaib Malik and co. who are known to be fine player of spin bowling?

All the previous India-Pakistan games have their place secure in the folklore and there is every chance that this one too will be part of some stories being told on either side of the border.

In unarguably the biggest game of the tournament, India will take on Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It will be the second game of the tournament for both the teams. It will also be the first game against each other for these two teams since the Champions Trophy final of 2017. Pakistan has already won their first game of the tournament against Hong Kong whereas India is supposed to play their first game against Hong Kong on 18th September.

In recent times teams have looked to chase more in International cricket. However, when its India Pakistan the norms take the back seat. As we saw in the Champions Trophy on both the occasions teams batting first won the game between these two sides. Hence, you feel team winning the toss would like to bat first.

Pitches in Dubai have provided the good bounce to the bowlers. Due to the good bounce batsmen too can trust the surface and play the strokes on the up. Hence, we can expect the score of around 250-275 for the team batting first. Conditions are expected to be dry.

Pakistan will begin a slight favourite in this game. The reason being they are playing their first-choice team whereas India will be without their best batsman who is also the best batsman in the world.
