Cricket Match Preview:
Out of all the top cricketing nations in the world, West Indies are the side with the least number of 300 runs plus scores in ODI cricket games. Now in two consecutive ODI games, they have scored two consecutive 300 plus scores against India in India. What makes their feat even more incredible is that they have done it so while both batting first and while chasing the score.
India, too, have had two scores of over 300 but that is on expected lines. Also, they have once again been led by familiar faces like Rohit Sharma in the first cricket game and Virat Kohli in both games. While Ambati Rayudu did chip in with a half-century in the second ODI, India’s middle order problems are far from over. There was a danger of falling short of par score by a big margin despite Kohli’s record-breaking knock in the second ODI and that was mainly due to the failure of the likes of MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant.
West Indies, on the other hand, have been a breath of fresh air with bat in hand. They have two of the most promising youngsters in cricket world in Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer. Their approach, especially Hetmyer’s, has been unbelievably uncomplicated. He looked all at sea against the spinners in Test cricket matches but he has scored runs against them in a grand fashion in both the ODIs so far. He has not only picked the variations of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal but also went after them brutally.
Perhaps the biggest success of West Indies has been that they have put India off their plans of playing the non-regular bowlers in the series. After the tie in second ODI, India have brought back the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in their squad and dropped Mohammad Shami from the team. India would have hoped to rest both Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar for this series but Shami and Umesh Yadav have been very expensive in both games and failing to defend 321 in home conditions would have stung the team badly.
Cricket Match Information:
Impressive West Indies will take on India in the third ODI cricket match at Pune. India still lead the 5-match ODI series by 1-0 after winning the first cricket game. The second ODI between the two sides ended up in a tie. West Indies would like to go one step further in this game and keep the series alive with 1-1 scoreline going into the 4th ODI.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
India have blinked first in the series. They have dropped Mohammad Shami from the squad and brought their first-choice bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in their lineup. It will be interesting to see if they play both of them straight away and drop Umesh or play one of the two. Our prediction is that they will play only one of Bumrah and Bhuvi in the third cricket ODI and give another opportunity to Umesh Yadav.
Here is our prediction of India’s playing XI:
- Rohit Sharma
- Shikhar Dhawan
- Virat Kohli
- Rishabh Pant
- MS Dhoni
- Ambati Rayudu
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Kuldeep Yadav
- Yuzvendra Chahal
- Umesh Yadav
- Jasprit Bumrah
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
West Indies have been very good despite not winning any games in this series so far. They will feel they are close though and if they can just keep going the way they have in the series, the win will be nigh. Our prediction is that they will go with the same eleven as the second ODI.
Here is our prediction of West Indies’s playing XI:
- Chandrapaul Hemraj
- KOA Powell
- Shai Hope
- SO Hetmyer
- Marlon Samuels
- Rovman Powell
- Jason Holder
- Devendra Bishoo
- Ashley Nurse
- OC McCoy
- Kemar Roach
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Two of the famous top three batsmen of India have made their mark in the series, except Shikhar Dhawan. He would be itching to go big as he has looked in good touch even in this series. Our prediction is to expect a special knock from Shikhar Dhawan in the third ODI cricket match.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
In the last ODI cricket match played here between India and New Zealand, New Zealand could only score 230 runs and India chased down the total comfortably by 6 wickets. Pune pitch has always been good for batting although it tends to hold up a bit in daytime. Our prediction is of another score of 300 runs in this game. Conditions are expected to be dry.
India will be favourites for the third ODI cricket match as well though not by as big a margin as the first two ODIs. They will have to be careful against a confident West Indies batting line up. Our prediction is of another close game of cricket and an Indian win.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Shikhar Dhawan (IND) – 100+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Kuldeep Yadav (IND) – 3 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
MS Dhoni (IND)
India – 1.16
West Indies – 5.05
