Cricket Match Preview:

The ODI cricket series between West Indies and India has surpassed all expectations as the visitors have surprised the hosts on two consecutive occasions. After almost chasing down a total of 321 in the second ODI, they defended a total of 283 runs in the third cricket ODI and defeated India. This has happened despite the best efforts of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who has scored three consecutive hundreds in the series.

West Indies have gone after the simple template suggested by their captain Jason Holder, which is to go after the score of 300 runs in every ODI cricket game. They know that if they can reach that total, they will be competitive in every ODI game. This point has been proven emphatically in this ODI series, where they have stayed competitive in all the three games so far. In fact in the third ODI game, when they were struggling after being 8 down, they could have easily folded for a total of 250 but they ultimately reached 283, which proved to be 43 too many for India.

Meanwhile, India do not know what has hit them suddenly. They were all over West Indies in the test series and in the first ODI. But after failing to completely defend 321 in the second ODI, they went to their primary fast bowlers and still failed to win the game. They would have been reasonably happy at halfway mark when they knew they had to chase 284 runs to take the lead. During the run chase, Virat Kohli became the first Indian to hit three consecutive hundreds in three games, but due to the failure of middle order in yet another game, this hundred by Kohli proved to be futile.

If India do not manage to restrict West Indies under 250, they will struggle yet again as they cannot possibly expect Kohli to perform in every single cricket game. Their bowlers and other players will have to take extra responsibility in order to save the blushes against an inexperienced West Indies lineup in home conditions.

Cricket Match Information:

The ODI cricket series leg between West Indies and India reaches Mumbai as both teams will take on each other in the fourth ODI at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. This series is interestingly poised at 1-1, with each team winning one game and one game ending in a tie.

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

India brought back Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in the third ODI, but even that could not help India to win the game. It is almost certain that Kedar Jadhav will be back in the next game in place of Khaleel Ahmed and that will be our prediction for the next game as well.

Here is our prediction of India’s playing XI:

  • Rohit Sharma
  • Shikhar Dhawan
  • Virat Kohli
  • Rishabh Pant
  • MS Dhoni
  • Ambati Rayudu
  • Kedar Jadhav
  • Kuldeep Yadav
  • Yuzvendra Chahal
  • Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
  • Jasprit Bumrah

West Indies

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

West Indies have been very good in this series. Our prediction is that they will retain the combination of third cricket ODI, which brought them the victory.

Here is our prediction of West Indies’ playing XI:

  • Chandrapaul Hemraj
  • KOA Powell
  • Shai Hope
  • SO Hetmyer
  • Marlon Samuels
  • Rovman Powell
  • Jason Holder
  • FA Allen
  • Ashley Nurse
  • OC McCoy
  • Kemar Roach

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

Rohit Sharma had a rare failure in the third ODI against West Indies. In the home city, he would like to play a memorable knock and help India take the lead in the series.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

It will be the first ODI at this venue since the Champions Trophy final of 2006. Naturally, the game has changed a great deal since then hence, the nature of pitch is not known. But keeping in mind the general nature of the soil in Mumbai, it should be a good pitch to bat on with something in it for the bowlers as well. Conditions are expected to be dry.

Our Prediction:

India will be favourites for the fourth ODI but only by slightest of margins. They are expected to do well in their home conditions and hence, our prediction is of Indian victory despite the victory of West Indies in the third cricket ODI.
