Cricket Match Preview:
The team of Jamaica Tallawahs seem down and out after six games of cricket. After yet another loss in the competition, this time against Guyana Amazon Warriors, their qualification to the playoff spot looks improbable. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, on the other hand, are buzzing with confidence right now after a fine win over Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR).
The state of Tallawahs gets from bad to worse. The injuries, bad form and bad strategy have been the prime reasons behind their downfall this season. While the injuries of Rovman Powell and Andre Russell did not help, the likes of Dwayne Smith has not been in form. What has also not helped is the musical chair of their captainship. Andre Russell was the appointed skipper of the franchise this year but in some games, Rovman Powell has been the skipper, Chris Gayle in a few and Chadwick Walton is now the latest man to lead them in a game.
Despite Andre Russell making a comeback in the previous game of cricket, he did not lead the side, which was bizarre to see. Without a proper leadership, most of the teams are expected to fail and Tallawahs have been the latest example of that. Patriots were struggling as well with their newly appointed skipper, Carlos Brathwaite, till the last game. However, that mostly had to do with the poor form of Brathwaite than him leaving the sinking ship.
Brathwaite showed exemplary courage and clarity of thought in the last game against TKR. It was always going to be a tough game for Patriots but they first managed to tie the game by matching the score of 216 set by TKR and then shocked them in the super over, thanks to the fantastic performance from their skipper. Things are looking good for Patriots after seven games and if they can continue this form, they will be reaching the playoff for sure.
