Cricket Match Preview:
The party will continue in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as two very consistent teams Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will clash with each other in the iconic stadium of Eden Gardens, Kolkata. KKR will be the host of this cricket game. The festival has come early this year due to elections in the months of April and May in India. The final of the IPL will be played on 12th May and it will be hosted by Chennai.
Both teams have had some memorable battles in the past. Even during last year, KKR and SRH met each other for three times and while the results were even after the league stage, with KKR winning one and SRH winning one, SRH beat KKR in the qualifier 2 to reach the final of the IPL 2018.
Like all other teams, both KKR and SRH have undergone some changes to their squad. While KKR have stuck with their policy of backing the youngsters and reliable overseas players, SRH seems to have all the bases covered, with their bowling being their ultimate strength. For KKR, unfortunately, two of their India quicks Kamalesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi are out of the tournament due to injuries.
For SRH, the biggest news will be the comeback of Australian opener David Warner. Warner was banned from the IPL last year due to the ball-tampering issue that happened in South Africa. Before that, Warner had been a wonderful influential leader of his team and, along with scoring huge amounts of runs, he also won the IPL tournament for SRH.
Another important news from SRH’s point of view is the release of Shikhar Dhawan from the team. Dhawan had been one of their success stories at the top of the order and it remains to be seen who opens with David Warner at the top. For KKR, everything will rely on how to fit their overseas players like Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell to stay. If this terrific trio can remain fit, there will be very little opponents will be able to do.
Cricket Match Information:
KKR and SRH will take on each other in the second game of the IPL 2019. While KKR finished as the number three team of the last year’s IPL, SRH finished as the runners-up of last year after being beaten by CSK in the final.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
KKR will be led by Dinesh Karthik for the second season in a row. He had a good experience leading KKR last year and took the team into the playoffs. Our prediction is of almost the same playing eleven that played in the final last year.
Here is our prediction of KKR’s playing XI:
- Shubhman Gill
- Chris Lynn
- Sunil Narine
- Andre Russell
- Nitish Rana
- Dinesh Karthik
- Prasidh Krishna
- Piyush Chawla
- Lokie Ferguson
- Kuldeep Yadav
- Robin Uthappa
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
SRH will be led by Kane Williamson on this occasion as well as in the previous season. However, if he is unfit for the first few cricket games, we might see David Warner as the captain yet again.
Here is our prediction of SRH’s playing XI:
- David Warner
- Johnny Bairstow
- Kane Williamson
- Manish Pandey
- Yusuf Pathan
- Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
- Rashid Khan
- Siddharth Kaul
- Khaleel Ahmed
- Vijay Shankar
- Shahbaz Nadeem
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
David Warner will be back for SRH this year. He had a tough last 12 months and will be looking to make amends by scoring runs. Our prediction is of a good outing for him in the first cricket game for SRH.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last international ODI cricket was played here between India and West Indies in 2018. That game saw India chase down the total of 109 runs set by West Indies. The pitch in Kolkata has had good bounce and has provided some help for the spinners. Our prediction is of a score of around 160 this time around. Conditions are expected to be dry.
SRH will begin this game of cricket as favourites. They have beaten KKR on three of the last five cricket games. Hence, our prediction is of another close victory for SRH.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
David Warner (SRH) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Kuldeep Yadav (KKR) – 2 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
David Warner (SRH)
Kolkata Knight Riders – 1.74
Sunrisers Hyderabad – 1.90
