Cricket Match Preview:
If anybody was expecting a close fight between India and New Zealand, he would have been disappointed with the latter’s performance in the first cricket game. It was completely India’s show in the first cricket game, where after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, nothing went right for the hosts.
India bowled brilliantly right from the beginning and did not allow the dangerous New Zealand opening batting pair of Martin Guptill and Colin Munro to get away from them. Martin Guptill was unsure about the line and lengths of Mohammad Shami and soon gave his wicket away. Colin Munro was cleaned up soon by Shami as well. The pressure created by Shami was maintained by Indian wrist spinners, who were playing together after a long time.
Yuzvendra Chahal soon struck to dismiss Ross Taylor and Tom Latham and that broke the back of New Zealand’s batting. Despite the best effort of skipper Kane Williamson, New Zealand’s innings could not recover and were bowled out for a low total of 157 runs. In reply, India did not break a sweat and finished the run chase with ample overs remaining and 8 wickets in hand.
New Zealand looked a bit rusty in the first game of cricket and did not look like their usual free-spirited self. In the upcoming cricket games, it can be expected that they will be a lot more proactive in their batting and will not allow Indian bowlers to dictate the terms. Their bowlers bowled well enough at the front and, provided with the runs, they can put some pressure on the Indian batting lineup.
India, on the other hand, would like to continue the manner in which they have played their cricket. They have been in very good form in limited overs cricket format for a year now with their series win in South Africa and Australia. They missed out in England but would like to repeat their feat of 10 years ago in New Zealand.
Cricket Match Information:
India will take on New Zealand in the second ODI cricket game at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. India won the first game of cricket handsomely at Napier. They defeated the host nation by 8 wickets and are looking in a very good form. New Zealand, on the other hand, looked a little off and would like to get back to their groove sooner than later.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
New Zealand were not at their best in the first game of cricket. Our prediction is they might choose to go with Ish Sodhi in place of Ferguson in this game of cricket.
Here is our prediction of New Zealand’s playing XI:
- Martin Guptill
- Colin Munro
- Kane Williamson
- Ross Taylor
- Henry Nicholls
- Doug Bracewell
- Tom Latham
- Tim Southee
- Ish Sodhi
- Trent Boult
- Mitch Santner
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
India decided to play both Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in their playing eleven in the first ODI cricket game. Keeping in mind the upcoming cricket World Cup, they may decide to continue with their changes in the playing eleven. However, our prediction is of the same playing eleven.
Here is our prediction of India’s playing XI:
- Rohit Sharma
- Shikhar Dhawan
- Virat Kohli
- Kedar Jadhav
- MS Dhoni
- Ambati Rayudu
- Kuldeep Yadav
- Vijay Shankar
- Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
- Yuzvendra Chahal

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Shikhar Dhawan regained his form in the first game of cricket, which was important from India’s point of view. Our prediction is of another good performance from him in the next cricket game.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last two international cricket ODI played here between Sri Lanka and New Zealand produced two very high-scoring cricket games. In both cricket games, New Zealand batted first and scored well over 300 runs. Our prediction is of another high-scoring cricket game between the two sides. Conditions are expected to be dry.
India will begin this game of cricket as favourites. They appear to be in the right mindset and continuous wins have given them confidence. Hence, our prediction is of India’s victory in this cricket game.
