Cricket Match Preview:
The first Test of the three-match series between Pakistan and New Zealand was a fascinating advertisement for Test cricket. The game ebbed and flowed and eventually came down to a side needing four runs with the last man on the crease. The cricket livened up and the second Test promises to be another delicious treat for the cricket-lovers.
Pakistan, leading into the first Test, were in a positive mindset after defeating the Australian cricket team in UAE. Mohammad Abbas, the shining cricket star, caused the world to take notice his superb bowling spells. However, they still had a few problems of their own.
One glaring issue was the second seamer. Pakistan included Hasan Ali for this Test and the selection turned out to be a masterstroke. The fabulous bowler grabbed a total of seven wickets in the match that includes 5/45. Pakistan’s bowling unit seems formidable now with Hasan Ali displaying such cricket.
The batting capitulation will be a worry that will plague the Pakistani cricket team. At 130/3, they needed only 46 runs more to win but somehow they contrived a way to lose the cricket match. The problem lies in temperament and not the skills. Babar Azam, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq were the better batsmen in the first Test for Pakistan.
The New Zealand cricket team will be elated with a stunning win in the first Test. At one stage, they were dead and buried but kept their spirit alive to snatch an unbelievable win. The debutant left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel was the hero of the cricket match. He was well supported by Trent Boult, Neil Wagner and Ish Sodhi.
The batting department was rightly shepherded by Kane Williamson as he scored 100 runs in the Test. Jeet Raval and Henry Nicholls were impressive with the bat and laid the foundation of a thrilling cricket win. BJ Watling, the keeper, chipped with a valuable 59 in the second innings. The Blackcaps could seal the cricket series here with another win.
Cricket Match Information:
This is the second of the three-match Test series with New Zealand in lead by 1-0. No team other than Sri Lanka has won a Test series against Pakistan in UAE since they started using the neutral facility regularly. New Zealand have a great chance to rewrite cricket history here.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan were ruled out of the first Test and will return to cricket only after this match. Imam-ul-Haq and Hasan Ali will retain their spots in the side. Although Pakistan lost the first cricket match, the prediction is them retaining the playing XI.
Here is our prediction of Pakistan playing XI:
- Mohammad Hafeez
- Azhar Ali
- Haris Sohail
- Asad Shafiq
- Babar Azam
- Sarfraz Ahmed (c & wk)
- Bilal Asif
- Yasir Shah
- Hasan Ali
- Mohammad Abbas
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
The critical selection decision for New Zealand remained in the bowling department. The choice was between Neil Wagner and Tim Southee. The Blackcaps chose Wagner and he proved crucial in the last innings with his short balls. They also selected Ajaz Patel over Will Somerville and he was the man of the match in the first cricket match. As per prediction, New Zealand have no reasons to make any change.
Here is our prediction of New Zealand playing XI:
- Jeet Raval
- Tom Latham
- Kane Williamson (c)
- Ross Taylor
- Henry Nicholls
- BJ Watling (wk)
- Colin de Grandhomme
- Ish Sodhi
- Neil Wagner
- Ajaz Patel
- Trent Boult
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Kane Williamson scored 63 and 37 in the first Test and helped the team gain momentum in significant situations. The Captain of the New Zealand cricket team will be seeking nothing less than a century to help his team secure another win.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The weather report is for five clear days with the temperature hovering around 32 degrees. Like the usual UAE track, it will be helpful for the spinners. It will be fabulous for batting on the first two days or so.
Both teams will be eager to overcome each other in this Test after the scintillating contest in the first match. Pakistan, embarrassed by the loss, should be infuriated enough to win this one. The prediction favours Pakistan to equalise the series 1-1.
