Cricket Match Preview:

South Africa finally managed to register their first win of the World Cup. They beat Afghanistan by nine wickets in just a little over 28 overs. New Zealand, on the other hand, are silently going on about their job and are sitting pretty at the second spot, with three wins out of four cricket games and a run-rate superior to that of India and England.

In a week full of not so exciting matchups, this game of cricket promises to be a cracker, of course, weather permitting. Both teams play fair and hard cricket and with a couple of washouts already for each team, they would like to know about their best combination. From South Africa’s point of view, it was a near perfect game for them against Afghanistan. They bowled first and due to some brilliant bowling from Imran Tahir, Andile Phehlukwayo and Chris Morris, they bowled Afghanistan for just 125 runs.

In reply to the total, led by a fantastic opening partnership between Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla, South Africa cruised to their target. In the end, it was a much-needed victory for Proteas by nine wickets. While it is still very much an uphill task for them to qualify for the semis, New Zealand have put their best foot forward so far in the tournament. While the scheduling did help them a bit, they made the most of it by winning the games easily.

But this cricket game will be their first test of the competition and New Zealand will get a fair assessment of their strength and weaknesses. Their openers have not been among runs and a lot of responsibility of run-scoring has fallen upon Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson. They would want the likes of Colin Munro, Martin Guptill and Tom Latham to be among runs quickly. Their bowling, on the other hand, is in a very healthy state with Trent Boult, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson being very good so far. Overall, it should be a very good game of cricket between two sides in a need of a win for different reasons.

Cricket Match Information:

New Zealand will take on South Africa in their fifth cricket game of the tournament. So far, on the points table, New Zealand are on the second spot with three wins out of four cricket games, whereas South Africa are on the seventh spot with a solitary win out of five games. The top four teams on the points table will progress to the semi-final.

New Zealand

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

New Zealand are being led by Kane Williamson in the World Cup. They are coming into this game after three back-to-back wins and a washout. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game.

  • Martin Guptill
  • Colin Munro
  • Kane Williamson
  • Ross Taylor
  • Tom Latham
  • Jimmy Neesham
  • Colin de Grandhomme

  • Mitchell Santner
  • Matt Henry
  • Lockie Ferguson

South Africa

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

South Africa are being led by Faf du Plessis in the World Cup. They are coming into this cricket game following their first win in the tournament. Our prediction is of the inclusion of Lungi Ngidi in the playing eleven if he is fit.

Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:

  • Quinton de Kock
  • Faf du Plessis
  • Hashim Amla
  • HE van der Dussen
  • David Miller
  • JP Duminy
  • Andile Phehlukwayo
  • Kagiso Rabada
  • Imran Tahir
  • Dale Steyn
  • Lungi Ngidi

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

Lockie Ferguson has been the X factor for New Zealand in the tournament so far. While Trent Boult and Matt Henry have been very good, Ferguson has provided New Zealand with a pace that is hurting opponents in the middle overs. Our prediction is of a good game for the pacer.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

The last international ODI cricket game played here was between Australia and Pakistan recently. Australia won that high-scoring cricket game after scoring 307 runs. Hence, our prediction is of the score of around 300 once again. Conditions are expected to be cold and windy.

Our Prediction:

New Zealand will begin this game of cricket as favourites. They have been in very good form in the World Cup so far, whereas their opponents have been exactly the opposite. Our prediction is of a New Zealand victory.

Top Batsman (Prediction):

Kane Williamson (NZ) – 50+ runs

Top Bowler (Prediction):

Lockie Ferguson (NZ) – 2 or more wickets

Most Sixes (Prediction):

Jimmy Neesham (NZ)
