Cricket Match Preview:
New Zealand and Sri Lanka will resume their battle in the second ODI of the three-match cricket series. Both sides will continue in their pursuit of right balance and combination keeping in mind the upcoming 50 over cricket World Cup. It will be interesting to see the approach and combinations of both cricket teams.
In the first cricket, New Zealand ODI went with Tim Seifert instead of Colin de Grandhomme. They also went in with Jimmy Neesham as another all-rounder in the lineup. In order to try more options apart from Colin de Grandhomme, they decided to play Neesham and Seifert. The other players in the lineup are pretty much decided with Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls and Tom Latham taking the middle order spots.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are also in the process of finalizing the combinations. Lasith Malinga mentioned that the process of rebuilding is now over, and other players must stand up for future challenges. In the first cricket ODI, Sri Lanka played S Prasanna and Sandakan as their spinners. Prasanna can also hit big blows with the bat so that is another all-round option for Sri Lanka along with Thisara Perera.
One big piece missing from Sri Lanka’s lineup is Angelo Matthews, who will undoubtedly play the role in the World Cup. He is currently out of the squad because of recent injury in the test series. Sri Lanka will have to play some good cricket to compete against New Zealand in their conditions. New Zealand, on the other hand, will be looking to continue the momentum that they gathered in UAE against Pakistan.
Sri Lanka will have to make plans to contain Martin Guptill as he was the one who hurt them the most in the first cricket ODI. Kane Williamson, the run machine, continued his rich vein of form as well. Sri Lanka’s pacers were disappointing in the first cricket game and will have to up their game.
