Cricket Match Preview:

Calm and composed New Zealand continue on their merry way as they will take on mercurial West Indies in their sixth cricket game of the World Cup 2019. New Zealand have stayed unbeaten for five cricket games now, four of which were played while one was abandoned. West Indies, on the other hand, have faded away after a fantastic start to the tournament against Pakistan.

It is said that a team plays according to the personality of their skipper. Those words were never truer than in New Zealand’s last cricket game against South Africa. On a difficult pitch chasing 242 runs against a quality bowling lineup, New Zealand’s captain, Kane Williamson, played one of the knocks of the tournament. He stayed unbeaten till the end, scoring 106 off 138 balls and took New Zealand home. He came in just third over of New Zealand’s innings after yet another failure of Colin Munro.

West Indies, on the other hand though, does not play according to the personality of their captain Jason Holder. They are everything that he is not. They are frenetic, nervy and more importantly, not dependable. So far in the tournament, West Indies had the chance to win the cricket game against Australia just after their one-sided win over Pakistan. But due to a rush of blood, many of their stroke makers lost their cool and they ended up losing the game that they should have won.

New Zealand self-admittedly knew that they have a tougher road ahead after their first three cricket games were against the less fancied opponents. But with the way they played against South Africa, nobody will doubt them now. They are just a couple of wins away from sealing the semi-final spot and, quite possibly, the top spot leading into the semi-final. West Indies, on the other hand, are up against it now and need to win all of their remaining four cricket games.

Cricket Match Information:

New Zealand will take on West Indies in their sixth cricket game of the tournament. Currently on the points table, New Zealand are on the top spot with four wins out of five cricket games, whereas West Indies are on the seventh spot with a solitary win in five games. The top four teams on the points table will progress to the semi-final.

New Zealand

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

New Zealand are being led by Kane Williamson in the World Cup. They are coming into this game after four wins and are unbeaten in the tournament so far. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game.

Here is our prediction of New Zealand’s playing XI:

  • Martin Guptill
  • Colin Munro
  • Kane Williamson
  • Ross Taylor
  • Tom Latham
  • Jimmy Neesham
  • Colin de Grandhomme
  • Trent Boult
  • Mitchell Santner
  • Matt Henry
  • Lockie Ferguson

West Indies

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

West Indies are being led by Jason Holder. They are coming into this cricket game following a bad loss against Bangladesh. Our prediction is of the same lineup that played against Bangladesh unless Russell is declared unfit.

Here is our prediction of West Indies’ playing XI:

  • Shai Hope
  • Chris Gayle
  • Shimron Hetmyer
  • Evin Lewis
  • Nicholas Pooran
  • Sheldon Cottrell
  • Ashley Nurse
  • Carlos Brathwaite
  • Oshane Thomas
  • Andre Russell
  • Jason Holder

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:

Martin Guptill was looking quite stable when he got himself out via hit-wicket against South Africa. His form will be important going into the important stage of the tournament as they cannot simply rely on just Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor to bail them out every time.

Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:

The last international ODI cricket game played here was between England and Afghanistan recently. England won that record-breaking cricket game after scoring 397 runs. Eoin Morgan hammered 17 sixes in that cricket game alone. Our prediction is of the score of around 350 once again. Conditions are expected to be cold and windy.

Our Prediction:

New Zealand will begin this game of cricket as favourites. They have been in very good form in the World Cup so far, whereas their opponents have been erratic. Hence, our prediction is of a New Zealand victory.

Top Batsman (Prediction):

Martin Guptill (NZ) – 50+ runs

Top Bowler (Prediction):

Lockie Ferguson (NZ) – 2 or more wickets

Most Sixes (Prediction):

Martin Guptill (NZ)
