Cricket Match Preview:
The Mzansi Super League is the newest phenomenon in T20 cricket and in the first three days, it has demonstrated a tremendous promise to be a valuable cricket product. We have already seen a few spectacular batting performances and a high-scoring thriller. After a day of rest, cricket storms back in the action with an encounter between Paarl Rocks and Jozi Stars.
Paarl Rocks faced a heart-breaking defeat of one run in their opening home encounter against ABD’s Tshwane Spartans. With Spartans batsmen on a rampage, the Rocks bowlers had to take a retreat. It was the experience of Dwayne Bravo that rescued the home teams as the West Indian bowler scalped three wickets. The Rocks faced a mammoth target of 203 runs, nevertheless.
Cameron Delport (73) stood strong from the beginning and with contributions from each and every partner, kept Paarl Rocks on the track of chasing down the target. Wicketkeeper M Mosehle stormed into action when the home team needed 30 runs from the last two overs and scored 17 runs off the penultimate over. Patrick Kruger tried his heart out to add the 13 runs from the last over but his valiant effort fell short by just one run and Rocks had to settle for the defeat by the smallest of the margins.
Jozi Stars, in contrast, were humbled by Nelson Mandela Bay Giants with relative ease. The Universe Boss Chris Gayle displayed signs of an impending Gayle Storm but was dismissed with 23 runs from 19 balls. Dane Vilas and R Van Der Dussen helped the side post 124/7 runs on the board. The Bay Giants powered by Ben Duckett’s 75 from 45 balls cruised to a win with 12 balls remaining. Beuran Hendricks’ incredible spell of 13/2 in four overs was a positive for the Stars.
Although both cricket teams are yet to be on the winning side, Paarl Rocks without a doubt will be the more confident team between the two. The participation of FAF Du Plessis, Aiden Markram, Tabrez Shamsi and Kagiso Rabada remains doubtful and will be confirmed before the match commences as they have just returned from the Australia cricket tour. Even without these stars, both cricket teams have enough firepower to engage in a thrilling game of cricket.
Cricket Match Information:
Overall, this will be the fifth cricket match of the MSL. Both cricket teams lost their opening encounter and shall be seeking their first win in the competition. The cricket match will be played at the Boland Park, which is the home ground of Paarl Rocks. Their previous cricket match was staged at the same venue, while Jozi Stars will be playing in their first away match of the league round.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Paarl Rocks missed FAF Du Plessis, Tabrez Shamsi and Aiden Markram in the last cricket match.
