Cricket Match Preview:
Pakistan have a great chance to get out of the rut they find themselves in the ODI cricket format currently. They have been in an unreal form in the T20 format, where they have won 11 consecutive T20 series, but their ODI form has dipped alarmingly since the famous Champions Trophy 2017 win.
New Zealand, on the other hand, would be disappointed with their T20 performance earlier on the tour. They gave a better fight than the Australians, but it still proved to be not enough. However, they had an excuse of a long lay off before the series. They were playing the T20 series after the break of almost 6 months. Now that they have some game time behind them so they are expected to do better in ODI cricket series.
Pakistan had a tremendous time against Australia and New Zealand in the T20 format but considering the World Cup in mind, they need to start winning in the ODI cricket format as well. They had a rough time in the Asia Cup in September, where they failed to reach the Final of the tournament. They were beaten twice by the archrival India in the tournament and that would have hurt their skipper Sarfaraz and team management.
New Zealand will have the services of Tom Latham and Trent Boult in this cricket series. Both were missing for different reasons in the T20 series. Latham will strengthen the New Zealand batting, which seemed to miss his solidity in the middle order. He has a good record against the spin as shown in India last year so he would back himself to come good against Pakistani spinners as well. Trent Boult, on the other hand, will be a welcome addition to the New Zealand pace attack. If he finds some swing then he will be lethal against Pakistani batsmen.
Cricket Match Information:
Pakistan and New Zealand will take on each other in the first cricket ODI match in Abu Dhabi. It will be the first of three ODI cricket games to be played in this cricket series. Pakistan won the T20 series by a margin of 3-0 earlier on the tour.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Pakistan have included Mohammad Hafeez in this cricket series. That would make their middle order more solid. They are also likely to go with Imad Wasim as their spinner along with Shahdab Khan.
Here is our prediction of Pakistan’s playing XI:
- Mohammad Hafeez
- Fakhar Zaman
- Babar Azam
- Shoaib Malik
- Sarfraz Ahmed
- Imad Wasim
- Imad Wasim
- Shaheen Afridi
- Shahdab Khan
- Junaid Khan
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
New Zealand will have Trent Boult and Tom Latham back in their lineup. Those two will make their side tough to beat. They are also likely to let Latham keep the wicket for them. Ish Sodhi is likely to be their spinner.
Here is our prediction of New Zealand’s playing XI:
- GH Worker
- Colin Munro
- Kane Williamson
- Tom Latham
- Ross Taylor
- Colin De Grandhomme
- HM Nichols
- Lockie Ferguson
- Ish Sodhi
- Tim Southee
- Trent Boult
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Kane Williamson will have the responsibility to guide the New Zealand batting line-up in this cricket series. He was not at his best in the T20 series but in the ODI format, he is one of the best batsmen in the world. Our prediction is of a fine knock from Williamson’s bat.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Abu Dhabi surfaces are not known to be high scoring cricket ground. The winning runs have proved to be around the mark of 250-275 runs. More of the same is expected in this cricket game as well. Conditions are expected to be dry. The pitch is expected to be dry and should assist the bowlers more than the batsmen.
Pakistan, despite their recent ODI cricket form, are favourites to win this game of cricket. They have all the bases covered for the conditions. Their batsmen have been in good form and their bowlers have not allowed their oppositions to get on top of them in any format.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Fakhar Zaman (PAK) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Shahdab Khan (PAK) – 2 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
Fakhar Zaman (PAK)
Pakistan – 1.37
New Zealand – 2.90
