The defending champions, Melbourne Renegades, have had a miserable season. The winners of last season have stayed at the bottom throughout the season and they are now out of contention of reaching the playoffs.
Renegades still have the chance to finish on a high though. They still have three cricket games remaining and by winning their last two cricket games, they must be in a much better headspace than a week ago.
They caused an unbelievable batting collapse in their last cricket game. Brisbane Heat were cruising at one stage towards the target of 165 runs set by Melbourne but they lost a cluster of wickets in no time and from 84 for 0 in 6 overs, they were bowled out for just 120 runs.
Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that won the game against Brisbane Heat.
Here is our prediction of Melbourne Renegades’ playing XI:
- Shaun Marsh
- Dan Christian
- Mohammad Nabi
- BJ Webster
- SB Harper
- SR Patel

- W Sutherland
Things have not gone Hobart Hurricanes’ way this season. They have failed to win games of cricket and find themselves on the second last spot on the points table.
With just three cricket games remaining in their kitty, they are now out of contention of the playoffs as well.
Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game.

Expert Prediction: REN vs HOH
Two fine teams coming off a fantastic season last year have struggled right throughout this tournament. The defending champions, Melbourne Renegades, and semifinalist, Hobart Hurricanes, have had a torrid time this season. Their only hope in their remaining cricket games this season would be to finish on a high and win as many games as possible.
While Renegades might get back Aaron Finch, their original skipper, it will not make a lot of difference to their possibility of playing the playoff. With three cricket games remaining, they are unlikely to match the top five teams. However, the wins like the one against Brisbane Heat is going to do them a world of good in the remaining games.
Hobart, on the other hand, managed to come close to the target set by Adelaide Strikers in their last cricket game but lost by ten runs. David Miller played a brilliant knock of 90 off just 48 balls but it just was not enough.
This year, there has been a change in the format of BBL. As per the new format, the teams finishing in the top two will be rewarded for their consistency, unlike in previous seasons. While the winner of the ‘qualifier’ played between the top two teams will reach the final straightaway, the loser will play the ‘challenger’ against the winner of the ‘knockout’ which is going to be played between the side that finished third and winner of the ‘eliminator’.
The Eliminator is a newly introduced knockout feature, which will be played between the teams finishing at number fourth and fifth on the points table. Hence, out of the eight teams, five teams will have a chance to play the final and win the tournament.
In the last five encounters between the two sides, Hobart Hurricanes have had the upper hand with three wins.
