South Africa have appointed a new skipper in Quinton de Kock for the 50-over format. He has now officially replaced Faf du Plessis as the skipper of his side.
Quinton de Kock got off to a great start as ODI skipper. He led from the front and won South Africa in the first ODI. South Africa managed to restrict England’s powerful lineup for just 258 runs and then chased it down by seven wickets. De Kock hammered a century while Temba Bavuma scored 98 runs to lead the run chase.
Our prediction is of significant changes to South African eleven since their last ODI cricket game.
Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:
- Quinton de Kock
- Temba Bavuma
- JJ Smuts
- Reeza Hendricks
- Andile Phehlukwayo
- David Miller
- Beuran Hendricks
- Rassie van der Dussen
- Tabraiz Shamsi
- L Sipamla
- Lungi Ngidi
England are being led by their World Cup-winning skipper, Eoin Morgan. Despite the discussions around his future as a skipper, the selectors have chosen to go with Morgan for the near future.
England got off to a disappointing start in the series. Their famous batting lineup could not live up to the expectations and they got restricted to a low score. None of the batsmen, apart from Joe Denly, managed to bat long and that reflected on the final score of 258 runs.
Our prediction is of almost the same playing eleven that played the last cricket game in the World Cup final.
Here is our prediction of England’s playing XI:
- Eoin Morgan
- Joe Root
- Jason Roy
- Jonny Bairstow
- Moeen Ali
- Chris Woakes
- Tom Curran
- Sam Curran
- Tom Banton
- Chris Jordan
- Joe Denly
Expert Prediction: SA vs ENG
After staying away from the 50-over format for months, both South Africa and England played their first ODI cricket game. South Africa surprised England with their exuberance and smart play as they took the 1-0 lead in the three-match cricket series.
England were rusty and that showed in their game as well. None of the batsmen, except for Joe Denly, managed to focus and gave their wickets away. Since becoming the darlings of the entire nation, they have mostly played Test cricket and now they would like to get back to winning ways soon.
They would want to see if their batsmen have the same devil-may-care attitude that they showed for the entire period of four years between 2015-2019. They would also like to see if Eoin Morgan can display the same kind of zeal as captain like he did during the period.
South Africa would have been pleased with the win. They desperately needed to win something, and newly appointed skipper Quinton de Kock immediately made an impact. He led by example and scored a fine hundred in the last game. Temba Bavuma’s support would have immensely pleased de Kock as well. Bavuma played a fine knock of 98 runs and helped de Kock chase down the total of 259 runs set by England.
England, however, did not become the world champions for no reason. They are being led by a strong captain and consist of fabulous players. Hence, our prediction is of a bounce back from England and a win for them.
