Cricket Match Preview:
Pakistan have arrived in South Africa after an intense warm-up game of cricket against Cricket South Africa invitation eleven. Pakistan are especially pleased with the result of that warm-up game as they ended up winning the game of cricket and their batsmen looked in good form. South African players also took part in domestic four-day games of cricket and tried to hit the form running.
Pakistan would have been very disappointed with the result of the test cricket series result in UAE, where they were defeated by a very good New Zealand side. Their batting failed them in those games of cricket and the job is going to get further difficult against a quality South African bowling attack on their home soil.
South Africa know that Pakistan will not be a rollover and they will do well to be at the top of their cricket game. They also have some selection concerns, with Vernon Philander injured and AB de Villiers now retired from the international cricket. They have called David Paterson as the cover for Philander and he might just get the chance to play this game of cricket.
Pakistan’s coach, Mikey Arthur, famously said that Pakistan’s batsmen now bat better elsewhere than in UAE. They immediately showed that in their warm-up game of cricket against South Africa invitation eleven, where Azhar Ali and Babar Azam’s century helped their side to win the game. South Africa are playing the longer format of cricket game after a while. They last played the test series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka and lost the test cricket series.
However, at home South Africa played against India earlier this year and beat them comfortably by a margin of 2-1. The man behind that win is now unavailable though as AB de Villiers has retired from the game. They still have enough arsenal to trouble Pakistan and will be favourites to win the cricket series at home.
Cricket Match Information:
An exciting Boxing Day test match is in store as Pakistan’s tour of South Africa begins. It is going to be a three-match cricket test series. Pakistan are coming into this series, having lost the series at home against New Zealand, and will have a tough task on their hand against South Africa.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Pakistan lost the test series against New Zealand at home. Their record against South Africa in South Africa is not great either. In their last cricket series here, they lost all the three test matches. Our prediction for this game of cricket is that they will include Mohammad Aamir in their playing eleven. Also, Fakhar Zaman will replace recently retired Mohammad Hafeez at the top.
Here is our prediction of Pakistan’s playing XI:
- Fakhar Zaman
- Azhar Ali
- Babar Azam
- Harris Sohail
- Sarfraz Ahmed
- Asad Shafiq
- Mohammad Aamir
- Yasir Shah
- Hasan Ali
- Mohammad Abbas
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
South Africa last played the test series in the sub-continent against Sri Lanka. They will have to undergo a few forced changes in their playing eleven. Our prediction is they will include David Paterson in their playing eleven in place of injured Vernon Philander.
Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:
- Dean Elgar
- Aiden Markram
- Faf du Plessis
- Hashim Amla
- Quinton de Kock
- T Bavuma
- David Paterson
- Kagiso Rabada
- Kesav Maharaj
- Dale Steyn
- TB de Bruyn
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Mohammad Abbas has been sensational for Pakistan in the longer format of cricket. On unhelpful pitches of UAE, he has managed to trouble all the visiting batsmen hence, on helpful pitches of South Africa, our prediction is of a wonderful performance from him.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last test match played here was between India and South Africa, which South Africa won easily despite Virat Kohli’s century. That pitch was not easy to bat on and our prediction is of a similar pitch on this occasion as well. Our prediction is of a score of around 350 by the team batting first and that should be a match-winning score.
South Africa will begin the series and this game of cricket as our favourites. They know the conditions well and it will be difficult for Pakistani side to straightaway adjust to bouncy pitches. Our prediction is of a South African win in the first cricket test match.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Hashim Amla (SA) – 100+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Kagiso Rabada (SA) – 4 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
Quinton de Kock (SA)
South Africa – 1.35
Draw – 7.00
Pakistan – 5.00
