Cricket Match Preview:
On a slow pitch in Port Elizabeth, Pakistan managed to win their first cricket game on the tour. They displayed their skill sets to perfection on a pitch which gave them the opportunity to hold South African batsmen and then later bat comfortably to chase down the total. South Africa did not help their cause either by employing some strange strategies while batting first.
When South Africa decided to bat first, it looked like it was going to be another tough day for Pakistan. South Africa got to a sedate but good start nevertheless. However, on the fall of the first wicket, Hashim Amla was joined by Dussen. While Amla looked in fine touch yet again following his good display in the third cricket test match, Dussen took time to join the party.
Both of them strung together a huge partnership of 155 runs but it took almost 29 overs in the process. The killer blow that could have taken South Africa to an above par score in this cricket game never came. As a result, South Africa ended up with a bizarre cricket score of 266 for the loss of just 2 wickets after 50 overs.
Pakistan’s run chase seldom looked in trouble as each of their top 4 made a significant contribution and ensured that Pakistan never lost their way. They would have been especially pleased with the performance of two men, Imam ul Haq and Mohammed Hafeez, who performed their role as an opener and middle order player in a fine manner.
While the pitches in the upcoming matches will definitely not be similar to the Port Elizabeth’s one, Pakistan have now shown that they have a good ODI cricket team at their disposal and it will take some doing from South Africa to win this cricket series.
Cricket Match Information:
Pakistan beat South Africa in the first cricket game of the five-match ODI series. They will now look to extend their lead over the hosts in the second ODI to be played at Kingsmead, Durban. With just a limited number of ODIs remaining to be played before the cricket World Cup of 2019, each ODI holds its own importance.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
South Africa won their last ODI cricket series against Australia in Australia. But they lost the first cricket game played against Pakistan in this series. Our prediction is they will continue with the same playing eleven with the exception as their last cricket game despite the loss.
Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:
- RR Hendricks
- HE van der Dussen
- Faf du Plessis
- Hashim Amla
- Henrich Klassen
- David Miller
- Duanne Olivier
- Kagiso Rabada
- Duanne Pretorius
- Andile Phehlukwayo
- Imran Tahir
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Pakistan played a drawn series against New Zealand at home. After losing the test series, they have begun well in the ODI cricket series. As they won the last cricket game, our prediction is of almost the same playing eleven, however, there was an injury issue with Usman Shinwari so one of Shaheen Afridi or Mohammed Aamir may make their way into the eleven.
Here is our prediction of Pakistan’s playing XI:
- Fakhar Zaman
- Babar Azam
- Faheem Ashraf
- Sarfraz Ahmed
- Shoaib Malik
- Imad Wasim
- Shahdab Khan
- Shaheen Afridi
- Hasan Ali
- Mohammed Hafeez
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Duanne Olivier had an outstanding test cricket series against Pakistan. He had a reasonable outing in his first ODI cricket game as well. Our prediction is with Durban pitch sure to provide some quick bounce and pace, he will be lethal.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last international cricket game played here was between India and South Africa. In that cricket game, South Africa lost after posting 269 runs on the board, quite similar to the first cricket game played here in this series. Our prediction is yet again of a score of around 275 in this game of cricket. Conditions are expected to be dry.
South Africa will begin this game of cricket as our favourites. Despite the loss in the first cricket game, the conditions are expected to suit them in the second cricket ODI hence, our prediction is of a South African win in the second cricket ODI match.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Faf du Plessis (SA) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Duanne Olivier (SA) – 4 or more wickets
