Cricket Match Preview:
South Africa will look to start the year 2019 with a bang. They were thoroughly professional and impressive in the first test match against Pakistan. Pakistan, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their performance in the first cricket test match. They had brought themselves ahead in the game at one stage only to blow it with another batting collapse.
South Africa had a good start in the three-match cricket series. However, it was not all easy for them. Even in the first innings of Pakistan, South Africa had them at 8 down for 111 runs. Then Babar Azam’s special knock of 71 helped Pakistan to reach a total of 181 runs. In reply, South Africa knew they will have a tough ask as Pakistan’s bowling has always been dangerous.
Pakistan did exactly that. They made things difficult for South Africa. They bowled out South Africa for a total of 223 runs, which resulted in a lead of 42 runs for South Africa. That was always going to be difficult for Pakistan in the third innings. But Pakistan unexpectedly got off to a good start and at one stage, they were 101 for 1 wicket. The dream of an unexpected victory would have seemed real for them at that stage.
Pakistan had prepared well for the likes of Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada, but they had not quite prepared for Duanne Olivier. He proved to be a menace for Pakistan and produced a spell that saw Pakistan collapse from 101 for 1 to 190 all out. The cricket game was done and dusted then. South Africa only needed 149 runs to win the first cricket test match and did so with ease with 6 wickets remaining.
Cricket Match Information:
South Africa will look to seal the cricket series against Pakistan when they march out on the Newlands stadium. Pakistan have been struggling recently in the longer format of cricket. They lost the cricket series at home against New Zealand and lost the first test match in South Africa as well. Pakistan will have to win or draw this test match if they have to stay alive in the series.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
South Africa won the first cricket test match. Our prediction is they will continue with the same playing eleven that played in their last cricket game.
Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:
- Dean Elgar
- Aiden Markram
- Faf du Plessis
- Hashim Amla
- Quinton de Kock
- T Bavuma
- Duanne Olivier
- Kagiso Rabada
- Kesav Maharaj
- Dale Steyn
- TB de Bruyn
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Pakistan lost the test series against New Zealand at home. Their record against South Africa in South Africa is not great either. They lost the first cricket test match against South Africa by 6 wickets. Our prediction is of the same playing eleven that played in the last cricket game. Mohammad Abbas will be included in the squad if he has retained his fitness. However, if they have another failure in the next game, there will surely be changes in the third cricket test match.
Here is our prediction of Pakistan’s playing XI:
- Fakhar Zaman
- Azhar Ali
- Babar Azam
- Harris Sohail
- Sarfraz Ahmed
- Asad Shafiq
- Mohammad Aamir
- Yasir Shah
- Hasan Ali
- Mohammad Abbas
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Mohammad Abbas has been sensational for Pakistan in the longer format of cricket. On unhelpful pitches of UAE, he has managed to trouble all the visiting batsmen hence, on helpful pitches of South Africa, our prediction is of a wonderful performance from him.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
It will be the first test match on this venue after the infamous ball-tampering incident in the cricket test match between Australia and South Africa. In that game, the highest score came in the third innings, which shows that run making is not impossible. Our prediction is of a score of around 350 by teams in first innings. Conditions are expected to be dry.
South Africa will begin this game of cricket as our favourites. They know the conditions well and it will be difficult for Pakistan to bounce back from their previous loss. Our prediction is of a South African win in the second cricket test match.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Hashim Amla (SA) – 100+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Kagiso Rabada (SA) – 4 or more wickets
Most Sixes (Prediction):
Quinton de Kock (SA)
South Africa – 1.33
Draw – 7.25
Pakistan – 4.75
