Cricket Match Preview:
Zimbabwe have competed well on this tour of South Africa so far, but they don’t have the result to show for it yet. If they spring up a surprise in one of the remaining games, they will be delighted. It’s not going to be easy though, South Africa’s all-round depth has proven to be a bit too much for this Zimbabwe side.
In the first T20 International, yet again Zimbabwe were in the position where they could have threatened South Africa. While bowling, they had South Africa for 52-3 after 6 overs and had dismissed Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis. If they could have continued the pressure on the remaining inexperienced batsmen, it could have resulted in a low total to chase for Zimbabwe.
However, that’s where Zimbabwe have struggled so far on this tour. Despite the best efforts of young Brandon Mavuta, who has impressed one and all, others have not been able to strike regularly. This has resulted in South Africa scoring runs, which have been out of reach for this Zimbabwe batting lineup.
For South Africa, it will be about getting more ruthless. They would ideally want their senior players like Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis to get back among runs soon. Now that they have released Imran Tahir from the squad, it will be interesting to see how Tabrez Shamsi is able to maintain pressure. Tahir did the main damage to Zimbabwe’s run chase in the first game when he picked up 5 for 23 and it won’t be easy for Shamsi to repeat the same feat, especially considering the pitches on which remaining games are supposed to be played.
Cricket Match Information:
South Africa will look to continue its winning ways as they take on Zimbabwe in the 2nd T20 cricket match of the three-match series. It is going to be a do or die game for Zimbabwe if they have to stay alive in the series. South Africa had already won the ODI series and if they win this game, they will win the T20 series as well.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
South Africa were very good in the first game. However, they have decided to let Imran Tahir go from the squad so that brings Tabrez Shamsi the chance to impress one and all. Our prediction is to expect only that change for the second T20 cricket game.
Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:
- Quinto de Kock
- GL Cloete
- R Hendricks
- HE van der Dussen
- C Jonker
- David Miller
- K Zondo
- A Phehlukwayo
- CJ Dala
- Tabrez Shamsi
- L Ngidi
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Zimbabwe have been good in parts in this series so far and they would like to change it to complete duration of 40 overs. Considering it’s the do or die game for them, our prediction is to not expect any changes in their lineup for the second T20 cricket match.
Here is our prediction of Zimbabwe’s playing XI:
- H Masakadza
- CJ Chibhabha
- TK Musakanda
- Brendon Taylor
- SC Williams
- PJ Moor
- Elton Chigumbura
- TS Chisoro
- B Mavuta
- KM Jarvis
- CB Mpofu
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Quinton de Kock was pretty good with the bat when he was the captain in Sri Lanka in place of injured Faf du Plessis. Now that he has returned into the team after a brief rest in ODI series, expectations are big from him. Our prediction is to expect a quick-fire knock from him at the top of the order in this game of cricket.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Pitches on this tour do not have typical high scoring South African pitches. They have helped the quicks and spinners alike. The remaining pitches in the series aren’t going to be very spin-friendly, hence, our prediction is to expect some high scoring games of cricket now.
South Africa will begin as favourites again for this game of cricket. They haven’t played their perfect game yet in this series and they would like to do that now. Our prediction is to expect a clinical performance from South Africa in the second T20 International cricket game.

Top Bowler (Prediction):
