Cricket Match Preview:
While Zimbabwe team of yesteryears might have given South Africa a run for their money, it will be slightly over optimistic to expect a win from them now. They have struggled for quite a while against South Africa, and it is hard to remember the last time they won the game of cricket against them.
Failing to qualify for the World Cup hurt a lot of players and it kind of took the air out of the team. They were beginning to show signs of resilience and improvement around that time and a close defeat in the qualifier led to tears and heartbreak for many players. Out of them, Sikandar Raza was the most affected one. He gave his heart and soul to the cause but still ended up short. This led to the outburst against the Zimbabwe Cricket Board and led to his ouster from the contract.
South Africa have had their shares of ups and downs, too, the biggest of them being AB de Villiers’ retirement. They would have expected and wanted AB to feature in the World Cup since it was his dream to see South Africa be lifted up in his presence. But the combination of fatigue and rising voices against him picking and choosing the series to feature, resulted in his eventual retirement. Apart from him, the injury of Faf Du Plessis in Sri Lankan series meant that South Africa are currently playing without two of their most senior men.
Even without them, however, South Africa registered a comfortable win in the first game and would like to wrap up the series in Bloemfontein. Their bowlers were terrific on a helpful surface and Zimbabwe were simply too tentative to compel them to change their line and lengths. This resulted in an under-par total of 117 for Zimbabwe.
In the absence of their regular openers like Hashim Amla and Quinton De Cock, Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar opened the innings. Despite their failure in the first game, they would get another chance here, and Markram would like to make his claim as the next big batting sensation in South African cricket world.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand, would like their senior men, Hamilton Masakadza and Brendon Taylor, to hold the innings together and take them to a safe total. Their bowlers were inconsistent and good in patches in the first game. They would like to be more consistent in this game and create an upset in the remainder of the series. Zimbabwe cricket is in disarray right now and desperately needs its senior cricketers to stand up.
Cricket Match Information:
South Africa and Zimbabwe will take on each other in the second ODI at Bloemfontein. Zimbabwe will be desperate to at least compete in this game as time is running out fast for them. After failing to qualify for the cricket World Cup and controversies surrounding Sikandar Raza’s ouster from the contract, they would like to shift focus on the actual cricket. If they want to stay alive in this series, they will have to win this game. The final ODI will be played on 6th of October.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
South Africa were very good with the ball in the first game and a bit erratic with bat in hand. They would give another chance to the same line up and our prediction is there will not be any change for this game barring an injury.
Here is our prediction of South Africa’s playing XI:
- Aiden Markram
- Dean Elgar
- R Hendricks
- Henrich Klassen
- C Jonker
- Jean Paul Duminy
- PWA Mulder

- L Ngidi
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Despite the loss in the first game, Zimbabwe would like to give another chance to the same set of players in this game. Our prediction is that they will go with the same line-up in this game as well.
Here is our prediction of Zimbabwe’s playing XI:
- H Masakadza
- SF Mire
- CR Ervine
- Brendon Taylor
- SC Williams
- PJ Moor
- Elton Chigumbura

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Of all people on Twitter, Aiden Markram was hailed by Virat Kohli. Since then, however, he has fallen off the radar a bit and would like to get back to the runs. Our prediction for this game is to predict good innings from him.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Pitch was spicy in the first game and offered a lot to the bowlers in both innings. With the change in the ground, however, a change in run scoring pattern can be expected. In the last game played here, England had hammered 399 runs, while batting first, and South Africa were in the game, too, when the rain arrived. So, our prediction for this game would be to expect the score of more than 300 runs especially if South Africa bat first.
South Africa are overwhelming favorites for this game, and it would be a surprise if they even struggle again here. Hence, our prediction for this game of cricket is to expect a one-sided victory for South Africa.
