Cricket Match Preview:
A new tour and a new test await Joe Root’s England as they get another shot to improve their test cricket record overseas. Sri Lanka will hope to not let that happen and continue their good run in the only cricket format they have been winning in recent times. Sri Lanka won the test series played against South Africa earlier this year despite losing the ODI series.
England have been in fine form in the last few months as they have won the ODI series against India at home followed by an emphatic 4-1 series win in Test matches against India. They have continued their fine form on these shores as they have won the ODI cricket series as well as the T20 international cricket game. They would be hoping to continue their winning ways in the test matches as well, as their overseas Test cricket record has been pretty poor in the last few years.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are amidst dire straits as they struggle to keep the fans’ faith and play good cricket. They lost yet another home ODI cricket series at home against England after losing the same earlier this year against South Africa. They, however, did win the Test series and that is where they can hurt England with the pitches tailor-made for spin bowling. Playing spin proved to be a difficult task for the likes of Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis and Sri Lanka would be hoping to make life difficult for Joe Root and company as well.
England will have an interesting challenge on their hands as they will not get the conditions that make them difficult to beat at home. Conditions will not help their senior folks like James Anderson and Stuart Anderson, who have been so critical to their test victories. That is why the spinners like Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid will have to play the aggressor role instead of what they normally play in home conditions.
Cricket Match Information:
England and Sri Lanka will resume their battle when they take on each other at Galle in the first cricket Test match. It will be the first of the three-test match series. England have already won the ODI cricket series and a solitary T20 International game played between the two sides.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
England will have to make tough choices for the first cricket test match against Sri Lanka. Our prediction is they will play three pacers in James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Sam Curran. Their spinners will be Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and Jack Leach.

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Joe Root has his name firmly placed in the fabulous four batsmen of this generation. That is why if England have to improve their test cricket overseas record, their skipper will have to score a huge number of runs. Our prediction is of a fine knock in the first test cricket match of the series.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Rain can never be ruled out in these months in Sri Lanka. It is monsoon season and rain can strike anytime. However, seldom does a cricket match lasts for five days nowadays hence, if we get a considerable number of overs, we should get a good result.
Sri Lanka will be the favourites for the first test match of the cricket series basing on England’s poor overseas record in recent times and expected pitch behaviour.

Angelo Matthews (SL) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
Rangana Herath –4 or more wickets
