Cricket Match Preview:
In this day and age of test cricket, one expects a touring side to be 103-5 on the first day of an away test match. What is not expected is their recovery from that situation to a total that is almost a match-winning score of 321. England had a remarkable recovery on Day 1 of the cricket test match and Sri Lanka would be ruing the fact.
Suranga Lakmal gave Sri Lanka exactly the start that Sri Lanka needed up front. Sri Lanka knew that England would be vulnerable at the top with debutant Rory Burns and struggling Keaton Jennings. Lakmal removed Burns and Moeen Ali in back to back deliveries and shock waves were sent to England camp with the score being 10 for 2.
Joe Roots and Jennings helped England recover a bit but Rangana Herath playing his last cricket test match had other ideas as he dismissed Root and picked up his 100th wicket on the venue. England were tottering at 103 for 5 and with debutant Ben Foakes at the crease, it looked bad. But typical late order contributions from Sam Curran and Adil Rashid helped Foakes play his natural game and make a wonderful debut.
Foakes is still batting at 87 and a famous century on debut looks within sight. England would be hoping for score beyond 350 and then see how they can dismiss Sri Lankan batsmen in the first innings. Sri Lanka would be hoping to dismiss England soon on Day 2 and then have a solid batting performance with the bat.
England have gone with the three spinners in the game and, with pitch turning from day one, it would be interesting to see how they bowl with so much help from the cricket pitch. Sri Lankan batsmen have been playing on these kinds of pitches for their entire life so they are expected to bat well.

Probable XI (Our Prediction):

Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Sri Lanka have the services of the Legend Rangana Herath for one final time in the test cricket. It will be the final test match of Herath’s career. Sri Lanka have gone with the spin of Herath and Akila Dhananjaya. They have the services of Suranga Lakmal as their pace bowler.
Here is our prediction of Sri Lanka’s playing XI:

- Kusal Mendis
- Dinesh Chandimal
- Angelo Matthews

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Kusal Mendis has had an up-down limited overs cricket career. However, he has had a good test career with some memorable knocks against Australia at home. He will be expected to do well at the top of the order for Sri Lanka on Day 2 when they do get the chance.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Pitch is going to turn further on Day 2 of the cricket match and that will make the game even more interesting. Rain is expected to strike at some stage, but we would be hoping against it.
Sri Lanka is expected to do well on Day 2 of the Test cricket match. England have posted a good total but their spinners and pacers will be new to these conditions. Hence, our prediction is of the total of around 350 for England and Sri Lanka scoring 250-2 by the end of the day’s play.
Top Batsman (Prediction):
Kusal Mendis (SL) – 50+ runs
Top Bowler (Prediction):
