Cricket Match Preview:
Cricket’s nicest guys, New Zealand, are back after the ultimate heartbreak at Lord’s exactly a month ago. Thankfully for them, they will not be back to ODI cricket as yet. The trauma of that loss would still be quite fresh in their memories. Sri Lanka, who have already played a cricket series post the World Cup against Bangladesh are back with them as well. It was the last cricket series for the Legend Lasith Malinga.
It was not just New Zealand, who were mourning on the morning after the World Cup final. Almost the entire cricket-watching world felt for them, mourned with them and felt sorry for them. It was an unprecedented game with extraordinary circumstances and with an unbelievable result. It must have been incredibly tough for New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson, to deal with it but now he is back again and would like to get off to a good start in the Test championship.
Sri Lanka is not the easiest place to tour though for any cricket team. Under Dimuth Karunaratne, they have begun to get some stability and if they continue to show similar improvement, they may finally get a sustained period of success. They clean-swept Bangladesh in the three-match ODI cricket series immediately after the World Cup and they would be hoping to continue the winning momentum against New Zealand as well.
However, it is going to be challenging for both teams to get used to the grind of test match cricket. Both sides have not played a test match for quite some time now. While some of New Zealand’s players went to Canada to play T20 cricket, Sri Lanka players were also occupied with 50 over cricket. These two teams last played test matches against each other in 2018 when New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka in a two-match series by 1-0. In fact, in the last five games, Sri Lanka have not managed to win a single game. With this cricket series being played at home, it is a golden chance for Sri Lanka to get back to winning ways.
Cricket Match Information:
Sri Lanka will take on New Zealand in the first test match at Galle stadium. This cricket match will be part of the newly introduced ICC World Test Championship hence, every cricket test match is going to be crucial for every team.
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Sri Lanka are going to be led by Dimuth Karunaratne in this cricket series. Sri Lanka haven not had a great form in the longer format of the game for some time now but had a remarkable success earlier in the year against South Africa. - JA Raval
- Henry Nichols
- Kane Williamson

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Kane Williamson will be the man-to-watch-out-for in this cricket series. It is going to remain a tough series for New Zealand due to turning pitches hence, he will have to play a crucial role with the bat. Our prediction is of a good performance from him in this test match.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
The last international cricket test match played here was between England and Sri Lanka in 2018. England won that cricket game by 211 runs. The pitch is expected to turn hence, winning the toss becomes crucial. Our prediction is of the score of around 275 for 7 at the end of first day’s play. Conditions are expected to be good for cricket.
Sri Lanka will begin this game of cricket as favourites. They are a strong team in home conditions hence, our prediction is of Sri Lanka’s win in this game of cricket and a good day 1 for them with the bat.
